Who's built and installed a factory roof rack? need opinions on my 2 options

just curious on how big of a pain in the ass it is to do it yourself bc i can order one for $628 online from a local dealer and i could do it myself. or i can order one through the official ford accessories site for 825 with 15% off for a total of $701 and add $70 for installation which seems cheap as hell unless its crazy easy to put together and install. so a difference of $143.

so is $143 more worth not having to deal with it??? you know...ron popeil "set it and forget it!!"

side note - im very handy and capable and very meticulous, but a bit limited on space and my time is valuable so the time it'll take me to do it alone(most likely) is important.

also i haven't talked to the dealer yet just found it online earlier. but i would say its doubtful they'll honor the 70$ install bc i think that deal is just an online ford accessories offer that the dealers have to honor through ford.

@Sherpa11 It is extremely easy. It’s 4 bolts and 2 fasteners that the special tool that it comes with tighten the 2 rears. You can’t screw it up.

I swapped my soft top to a hard top last month, and it came with the OEM roof rack.

As stated above, it took about 5 minutes to install.

Don’t worry about assembly it’s 2 side rails and 2 crossbars. It won’t be delivered in the kit form like it is in the exploded parts diagram.

well that makes the decision super easy. i was wondering why ford accessories has a deal with alot of dealerships for a 70$ install.

Nope, it's super easy.

Hell we swapped both roofs and had the roof rack mounted within an hour.

Factory racks for the two door are back in stock. Just ordered for my delivery early May.

Question for the OEM rack….just ordered mine yesterday from Ford Accesorries website…they sell out like hotcakes! This was my third attempt. Are the cross bars adjustable in order to move along the roof rails at different locations?
