I see they are becoming available on the Ford Accessories page. But what is the reason for the compatibility issue?

The added weight stresses the engine and causes it to munch a valve?

🤣

It's actually a GVWR issue. Well covered here if you search for that acronym.

This ☝ Badlands is a heavy pig with the 2.7 and the electronic sway bar disconnect, hence why you couldn't add the roof rack option on the First Editions either.

Now this is from a factory order standpoint when ordering a Bronco, if you're looking to adding it after the fact there's nothing stopping you compatibility wise for installation, no difference in hard top design at all, but Ford is covering their tail here liability wise.
