I have an early ‘23 build that did not have the window short drop feature initially enabled. After July ‘23, the short drop feature came standard. For anyone who doesn’t know, if you unlock the doors via remote or interior, all the windows drop about an inch to prevent the window from catching at the top while opening the doors. Anyway, in the spring of this year, I found out I could bring it to the dealer and have it programmed. Worked great…until the OTA window update. Now I’ve lost that function. Anyone else having an issue with this? If it’s possible, I’d like to have it reprogrammed, but not at the expense of the windows wigging out. I liked it because no matter how many times I tell someone to open the door slowly, they always wing it open and the window catches and flops around. I’m afraid something will break eventually. Anyway, any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah it was removed it in the latest update as something related to that firmware was causing issues.

@Ducati1098 posted all of the info here (I think you had commented in that thread iirc, so probably already read it):

EDIT: To my knowledge dealers don't have the ability to revert of an old firmware version that had the drop feature, but I could be wrong about that. Something we can ask @Ducati1098 once he sees this bat signal.

yeah unfortunately once updated, there is no going back. At least no way that I’m aware of.

Eh, I got it:
Some 2021-2024 Bronco vehicles may experience a repeat loss of window initialization which results in a loss of short drop and/or one-touch up and one-touch down feature operation. This may be due to a recent short drop enhancement that is contained in the driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM) software. To correct this condition, update the DDM and PDM to the latest software levels then download and run the Loss Of Power Window Initialization Concern application using Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). If the vehicle’s DDM and PDM had software part numbers ending with CN or CR when it arrived, advise the customer that the vehicle will no longer exhibit a short drop event to all door windows anytime the vehicle is unlocked using the remote keyless entry (RKE), accessory keyless entry keypad, or the interior door unlock switch.

It’s not all. To be fair, my build did not have it originally. The dealer programmed my modules. So I can’t be too concerned about it. And my windows had started to glitch. Now they’re not, so that’s good.

I have automatic updates on my Bronco. Several months ago I had the window drop option programmed on my 2022. Still works to this day.

It will continue to work as long as your DDM/PDM are never updated again.

That's good to hear. I like the function. Passengers just pull the handle and don't think that the glass has to drop slightly. I just hit the remote even if the vehicle is unlocked. Thanks

So I’ll have fdrs this weekend. Should I do the updates to get the latest ddm/pdm software?

mine is current dropping the windows when hitting unlock on the fob. I see here I will lose that feature but curious if the performance has improved when just opening the door normally with the latest update
