So I make the appointment to do the windshield replacement at the shop thinking it would be a better idea than switching it out in the open in my driveway. They deliver Bronco and first thing I notice is the mark on the dash? WTH? Try to get it off myself in parking lot with no luck. Then I notice the windshield is totally off center. Look how much room is on one side compared to the other. Not to mention the exposed glue. So now another appointment next week to replace this one. And they are saying they can get scuff off or whatever they did to dash. I’m not so sure as they worked on it for about 10 to 15 minutes with no luck and actually made things worse.Any ideas on dash as I know it is some form of plastic with like a textured finish on it. Those that have had the windshield replaced, how tight to the edges is the replacement compared to original? I’m beyond pissed with whole situation with a ride that is not even 4 months old.

Ok so this was my earlier post and Bronco was taken back yesterday to replace the windshield which seemed to go good. Until today….Found a piece of plastic in the cup holder. Had no idea what it was till I find this… Plastic that butts up against top of windshield is cut missing this piece. Can’t believe this is now progressing even worse. Please look at pics and advice. Obviously I am going back tomorrow but not sure if I want that whole piece replaced as it looks like it is a huge job? And other than cosmetic is this a problem?

Unfortunately, Safelite is hit or miss. You are generally better off with an independent but most insurance will steer you towards Safelite.

The State Farm site/app had a few shops for me to choose from, luckily one was an independent old timer I've used in the past several times.

Not that you are limited to only those shops.
In this state, that cannot dictate the repair shop.

I think you are better off using Safelite home fix option. You can watch and make a friend, the worker has no other interruptions like someone telling him to hurry up, they are equipped to do the job, and they are well trained before allowed to go out on their own. It's always more hectic in the shop. :)

This looks like the part that they chipped off a piece near the windshield. I will be stopping by today to discuss.

Lol, I knew it was going to be Safelite that did it even before I read OP's answer to the question.

It's not uncommon to have to replace the hood cowling (at the wipers), the hold clips break almost every time

I've used Safelite before with decent results, but, recently State Farm gave me a choice if 5 places. The independent firm I went with was over the top fantastic. Quick, courteous, professional, and respectful of my still new Bronco (less than 5 months, 3,500 miles).

Yes, will try an independent next time. And this Bronco is only 4 months old. And went by safelight this morning and manager acknowledged issue and will order the part from ford and I will set up appointment with ford to install. Strictly cosmetic of course and really can’t see it, but they damaged a brand new car and we know it’s there. Looks like they sliced it off with a blade.

My first windshield, I used insurance and they paid for the factory glass because they didn’t have aftermarket at the time, but I still paid ~$500 to make up the difference. I was in a small town at the time, the insurance recommended Safelite. They came out to the house, it took them 15 mins, and they did a good job. My second glass, just a week ago. I had changed in Oklahoma while visiting family. We called Safelite because that was who my brother’s company used for their vehicles. I wanted the factory glass so I had to pay out of pocket. They quoted $1495.My dad made the appointment , I cancelled it. We called around and got it down to $700 (Eagle 1 Auto Glass in OKC; they give discounts for first responders and military) . We took it in and it took them an hour but they did a good job. Now I’m being harassed by Safelite to reschedule. 🫤 I’d recommend to shop around, I’ll never use Safelite again.
