Black Rhino releases the Tusk; a 1-piece, monoblock wheel built to handle your toughest off-road adventures!

The Black Rhino Tusk leverages a high density rock guard ring that attaches to the wheel's outer lip, to help prevent damage to both the lip and face of the wheel. The rock guard ring affixes to the wheel using 20 anodized black bolts, that are recessed to help avoid damage and wear that tends to result from off-road use

COMING SOON!!!

Once we have internal part numbers and Tusk BR016 is live on our website, we'll update this thread. If you have any questions about this new release, please let us know!

In the interim, check out our catalogue of Black Rhino styles linked below!

I was looking on BR’s site the other night and thought I saw 3-4 “new” wheels, or at least had the “new” moniker. Also I thought there was a few that offered this ring.

I would like to confirm material type. High density polyethylene, or HDPE? What is the thickness of the ring?

If indeed the material is HDPE, what sort of long term testing has been done with UV exposure? Any special treatments?

Having worked in environmental construction and dealt with HDPE liners, pipes and special fabricated drainage boxes and pipe end sections the common weakness is long term UV exposure. Also the material has a higher elasticity than other materials and I have seen with my own eyes liners and pipes shrink and expand depending on temperature of the day. Anchor trench or pipe trench backfill operations are commonly done when temps are cooler so the liners or pipes don’t contract/shrink and rip out of their respective trench types. This happens with “normal” temperature cycles of a summer day that may reach near 100 degrees during the peak and drop 30 degrees or so in the evenings/early AM.

I want to say they are a high density polymer rash guard, not a metal beadlock ring.
You are correct, they do not use a metal ring.
Instead, on their website they state "The Black Rhino Tusk utilizes a high density rock guard ring attached to the wheel's outer lip, which helps prevent damage to the lip and face of the wheel. The rock guard ring is attached using 20 anodized black bolts that are recessed to help avoid damage and wear that comes from off-road use".
This ring can be removed for mall 4x'ing and put back on for when you will be bashing your wheels.

Interesting that they can be removed and the wheel doesn’t look incomplete. Too bad BR wheels are so dang heavy though.
