This is going to end badly long term when the manufacturers move their production away from the states and then tens of thousands of people lose their jobs. The union leaders at the top seem to be out for glory all the while screwing over their members and the company. Have to feel bad for the hard working UAW guys that do deserve fair pay for their difficult jobs. People think it is a cake walk but it is not.

Can't the members get together and force a vote on the current proposal which seems to be pretty generous? The longer this goes on, the less future investment, lost profit sharing, and lost wages. Add in all the trickle down to the suppliers and communities that rely on these people spending money to stay in business. Someone needs to get the power trip in check before it's too late for things to recover.
What is the true motive of the leadership? What are they really wanting to accomplish now and what do they hope will happen in the future as these moves affect the future?

..There will be,or should be,a time where the brotherhood of the UAW workers, get a message to the president, enough is enough..Put a vote up for the workers..and lets see if there can be an agreement...what's his endgame 100% or bankruptcy ??

They voted for him to be their leader.

Why doesn't he share in the pain of $500 per week or UE benefits? Taking in well over $400,000 per year, no wonder he and doesn't care how long the workers are out. Going to cost tens of thousands or hard working people their jobs.

At that salary it seems maybe he's part of the problem and he should eat his own shirt.

100% correct and probably going to get banned talking like that in this forum.

Very positive news today. Ford and UAW negotiated through midnight last night and are likely very close to a deal (Yahoo news). Here is the irony at least on (likely) the most important and contentious issue of pay raises.

-UAW opened with a demand of 40% increase (over 4 years.

-Ford opened with 9%

-(40+9)/2 = 24.5

-UAWs most recent counter offer is 25%

-Ford's most recent offer is 23%

Hmmm 🤔.
