Armadillo Designs plans to produce a Bronco hardtop from aluminum

It would be cool if they could bring us the gunners port. That’d definitely make me consider it. Preorders open in 10 days so we will know more details soon. You can buy a Jeep hardtop for 1.5-3k so the more options/competition there is, the cheaper it gets hopefully.

Wonder what their plan is for the GPS antenna, it won't be getting a single satellite lock sitting underneath and only a few inches away from that aluminum sheetmetal.

Just random thoughts, it'd be cool as hell to prototype a riveted aluminum hard top using the same construction methods as a homebuilt airplane, and then take the plans to a manufacturer. If you got a kitplane company onboard with the idea and sold a kit with pre-drilled and cut materials, all you'd have to do is cherrymax it all together in your garage, bolt some windows on, add some sound deadening or whatever, and bring it to the paint shop. No tedious cutting or drilling or bending, just a rivet puller and some clecos. Having a top that made your Bronco look like the inside of a plane, one that you built yourself to your own specs...that would be pretty awesome.

Def interested in seeing how it turns out, I like the fastback look for some reason. Wish they had more to go off of, like price, more accurate design look, color options, etc.

Pricing starts at 5k. Colors will be textured black, textured white, or bare metal.

Hard pass on all the slant back designs. Hopefully, Ford will take notice of what's going on in the aftermarket, smarten up, and produce hardtops (with sunroof) and one-piece modular tops.

We are all basically beta-testing the first round of Gen6 Bronco's.

LOL, but really... like any other modern vehicle with a metal roof ... add the proper sound dampening and it will be fine.

Maybe AR500 instead of aluminum, it could be a standalone roll cage at that point.

If they can cap price at that $5 k mark they will sell some tops. If they go near $10k nobody will touch it in large numbers...
