As the topic says, I'm simply trying to understand the want (or for that matter the need) of 35's or bigger. Not trying to get into people's feelers here in the slightest, aside from looks IMO unless you're running at least 4 inches of lift, you lose articulation. There in again this is my opinion. Until beefer components for all suspension components, I'm personally going to run 33's.

This is a valid and good question. The simple answer, in my opinion is that for off road use, you want more rubber (tire) and less metal (wheel). It gives your more of a air cushion when going over objects off road. For the street, it really is just a cosmetic preference.

Thank you for the non-biased answer. Honestly, I'm waiting on my wheels to show up then putting the entire set on at once. I don't do a lot of wheeling, but I have noticed that one of the biggest differences between the Wrangler (which my wife has) and the Bronco (what I have) is articulation. On the Wrangler a 2-inch spacer lift with 40's is more than enough for the stock everything. Heavy angles will produce rub against the fender flares with that, but the Bronco if wheeled like the Wrangler needs a much more aggressive lift for that kind of articulation, due in part that the fenders are quite a bit taller than the Wranglers. Just perspective on my part.

I have not spent a ton of time in Jeeps, but I understand what you are saying for sure. My plan is to evaluate the tire/wheel combos after I get mine. I am leaning towards 37" Tires on 17" Wheels. My plans are to do as much off road fun as possible, but not really into rock crawling so its a different setup.

Think you should add the question to the title of your thread, no reason not to.

For me, 35s provide the right esthetics and ground clearance enough to do some off roading.

I believe I read specifications where the suspension on SAS allowed greater articulation, not less.

Also, in many (most) off road situations more ground clearance is better. You're able to move components, Oil Pans, Differentials, Bumpers, Steering Components away from rocks, logs, etc. Aside from running portal axles, larger tires are really the only way to increase ground clearance.

In my dedicated trail rig I run 42" tires.

dedicated trail rig running 42's is completely understandable, and yes the sasquatch does have a little bit more articulation (sway bar disconnect) but it's not a whole lot unless you disconnect. Almost 80% of the people that have these will never wheel them lets be honest. The aforementioned mall crawler, pavement princess, or whatever anyone calls it.

It’s futile to try and understand. People want what they want. They don’t care what you think and besides, bigger tires have their uses. I keep hearing people say the Bronco is useless compared to the Wrangler with superior articulation, yet I keep seeing Broncos hanging with them anyways.

I will agree that the Bronco is capable at keeping up with a Wrangler, I have both. I'm literally just asking for honest opinions as to why people are deciding on going bigger than most people actually need too.
