FOR RCI SKID PLATE OWNERS.....

So my RCI skid plate system is really engineered and built well. Not only is it seamlessly connected underneath from the Front Engine Guard to the rear Fuel Skid, but all the bolts underneath are recessed and clear of rock strikes. BUT - the front Engine guard bolts (2 of them) that are located right under the bumper (in the middle of the skid) are not recessed. RCI SHOULD HAVE included this simple solution in their package.

I found these on 4x4 Off Road and its a super simple add-on:

A recessed Allen flat button head bolt works well too (with a washer under it), probably even more clearance than the aforementioned solution?

Definitely an option - But I personally am not a fan of Allen Bolts for Skid plates. They tend to fill up with dirt, or worse, when they do get hit the corners lose shape and its a bitch trying to fit the Allen key in.

Thanks for sharing the link. We intend on going with the RCI skids as well. I noticed those bolt heads sticking out there and thought it was strange considering the quality they put out. I will definitely add these when we pull the trigger on the plates.

I recently did a ride to Copper Canyon.....hit a Massive boulder in the middle of the trail at about 35mph.....RCI did its Job

Just the two for the front plate. All the other bolts are recessed. Very good design.

I went back and added the same protectors for the two bolts holding my custom transmission pan.

I used flat socket head bolts on my Tundra skids and they ended up being a PITA to deal with after several rock massages.....
