If I can work out a front hitch mount, this'll probably be the direction I go. For the same reason I've bought several tools from Harbor Fright: I won't be using it professionally, or even very often. I haven't been let down by their power tools or jack yet.

where are you going to mount it? the awesome thread about the RC high mount and bumper mounts/frame horns has me thinking a hidden mount might be more ideal, but I don’t know if the current hidden mounts can fit the apex. It’s big

I had to remote mount the Apex's control box.

So it does work with the RC hidden mount?
My front bumper is made by wolfstorm. It was either remote mount the control box or notch the grille.

I would not recommend any hidden winch for an ATV through an off-road rig. It would not be easy to clean, maintain or even get to the free spool lever.

So it does work with the RC hidden mount?
Yes. I’ve been running it for over a year. I cut the free spool handle to fit - 1.5” socket on an extension + t-handle.

I also have the RC hidden winch mount, version 2 I believe with the Apex on it. Does your winch's control box not touch the AC lines?

They do - ever so slightly. I figured they’re made to flex a bit and the contact point is wrapped in rubber foam. I’ve checked it frequently and there doesn’t seem to be any wear or bending.

Gotcha. Did you add extra rubber foam at the contact point or is it the same as what came from factory? I'm thinking about adding extra insulation to it just in case. Maybe the rubber tape kind.
