Just got the Toyo open country AT3's in 285/75r17 in load range C put on. The fit great no rub lock to lock forward and back and based on how much space there still is there shouldn't be any problems at full compression (although hasn't been able to test that yet). I know its just an inch difference but driving it feels a whole lot taller but still just as stable. I will eventually adjust the tire size via forscan.

So yes 285/75r17 will fit on a non sasquatch black diamond!

The front started at 36.5 inches to the bottom of the fender flare and after install it was 37.5 inches.

The rear was at 37 5/8ths, and after was 38.75 inches to the bottom of the fender flare.

If y'all have any questions I'll try and answer them although I've put less than 10 miles on them at this point so I won't be a good judge of how the specific tire performs.

I know this was posted over a year ago, but did you (or anyone who put 285/75/17 tires on their Bronco and can answer) have any issues fitting the spare on the tailgate?

I trimmed about 10mm off the rubber bumpers with a razor knife. Fits perfectly now...

Could a small wheel spacer be added if additonal clearance is needed???

I wouldnā€™t do that. You would have less thread engagement on the lugs, and they donā€™t have a lot of torque on them in the first place. The bumpers are pretty cheap, if you ever needed to go back to the stock sizeā€¦

Try it without shaving it first- then shave as needed.

Thank you all for your advice. I made an appointment this morning to get the Toyo Open Country III tires put on in 285/75 and it occurred to me afterwards that the spare may not have enough space. Iā€™m putting them on my black steelies and Iā€™ll follow the advice of slowly shaving the bumpers down, little by little until I get a perfect fit. Thanks again- I truly appreciate it!

I had my Toyos installed today and wow- these tires are perfect. What are essentially 34ā€ tires fit perfectly and fill the wheel well nicely. They also seem to be the perfect balance in size (not crash bar removal required), looks, with off road capability, but also make highway driving pretty comfortable. I must have asked 10 times to make sure these were C load range (They are). Interested to see if my wife will notice the size difference.

Your last sentence is about to have some really fun responses but Iā€™ll keep it clean and thank you for the feedback. These are the tires I will be getting. Did you add a lift?

I didnā€™t add a lift but may consider one in the future, though Iā€™m pretty satisfied with the height right now as any off-roading I do will not be extreme in any way. I immediately regretted not taking photos in the parking lot but I was to excited with how it turned out. Iā€™ll definitely add some more photos but hereā€™s one I took in my garage to give an idea.

Very nice! I love our 285/75ā€™s. I donā€™t know why the 285/70ā€™s are so popular. These fill up the wheel wells better, give you a tad more ground clearance, and have zero drawbacks that I can think ofā€¦

Probably availability and cost. Discount Tire site is showing a lot more 285/70R17s available in load class C and D. While 285/75R17 is showing only 3 options (and two of those are Toyo).

But otherwise agree, the 75's generally give a better fill of the wheel well.

Interesting that we have the same model Bronco with the same size wheels, but because of the way the spokes are formed on the alloys, the steelies make the same tires look a little fatterā€¦
