Im curious about your choice for fog light beam patterns. I daily drive onroad with occasional off-road trails in the Midwest.

Here is my question what brand and beam pattern did you go with for pocket fog lights on your modular bumper? And after running them what would you change?

Check out the Baja Designs and Diode Dynamics kits we offer. We let you select the patterns and you get our all-in-one harness

*cracks knuckles* now onto the burning question... WHICH lights and WHICH pattern.

Baja Designs makes the best quality lights money can buy. For my money, you won't find a better light.

Diode Dynamics also makes a great light and they make them here in the USA. So bonus points there. AND they have better pricing. AND they have brighter lights.

So why Baja over Diode? Well personal preference honestly. If you want THE HIGHEST quality light, Baja it is. If you want more light for your money, Diode Dynamics.

Baja Designs can take more abuse then Diode Dynamics and we have far less RMA's with Baja Designs over Diode Dynamics.

Baja has a lifetime warranty. Diode has an 8 year warranty.

I've ran both brands on a variety of trucks and honestly they are both fantastic.

Diode Dynamics ARE more popular because they have a better price point, amber back-lighting, cleaner optics (TIR they call it), more options as far as brightness levels (Sport, Pro and Max compared to Baja's Sport and Pro only).

NOW, what patterns. COMPLETELY up to you.

OBVIOUSLY one pair should be an SAE light. The other lights can be a mixture of additional SAE Fogs and off-road lights.

A popular setup is this one

Baja Designs
https://www.4x4truckleds.com/baja-d...ckets-for-2021-ford-bronco-hd-modular-bumper/

Squadron SAE White
Squadron ASE Amber
S2 Sport/Pro or Squadron Sport/Pro Spot

The SAE is a street legal fog and having both a white and an amber (yellow output actually) is ideal for bad weather (turn white off, turn amber on). That Spot will throw light down range

Squadrons are a square light and S2 are a smaller rectangle light

Diode Dynamics
https://www.4x4truckleds.com/diode-...ckets-for-2021-ford-bronco-hd-modular-bumper/

SS3 SAE Fog White
SS3 SAE Fog Yellow
SSC2 Sport/Pro Combo

Same idea as above. The SS3 is a square light and the SSC2 is similar to the S2 above from Baja, a smaller rectangle light.

Most people like to go with the 3rd light a smaller light as it fits in the tapered opened better.

I chose White Drive / White Fog / Yellow Fog, in Diode Dynamics SS3 and SSC2s respectively. Very satisfied with the Fog patterns - nice and clean, usable spread, nobody's flashing me because they have the nice sharp cutoff at the top.
The Drives are legal as highbeam augments so they get a lot of use in the true middle of nowhere spotting critters crossing the road.
I use clear covers on all 3 - I feel like this contributes to a "factory" look that goes well with the plastic-bubble headlights.

If you do a Modular bumper pocket mount with SSC2s, you will have to modify your Fog lenses to rotate them upside down - this entails shaving a tiny indexing pin off two corners to allow them to sit upside down in the housing. Very easy and straightforward, but an extra step to consider. SS3s can hang in their bracket as-is.

My setup uses the brackets Diode sells directly - they are slightly different to the KR Offroad brackets and only really suitable for 1xSS3 and 2xSSC2, but fit them very well. The brackets are very nice and they do sell them separate - you could even use them for Baja with 1xSquadron and 2xS2, if you so chose.

I also used a CrystaLux harness which had everything set up to run the 3 sets of lights on 3 separate AUX switches. If you have sensors in your bumper, there's also a CrystaLux harness that connects to the factory fog stubs on the sensor harness, which combined with a headlight switch swap to one with a fog button, can give you full factory foglight functionality with whichever light you choose.

It’s NOT modular bumper but as to beam pattern, and amber fogs low/angled slightly down, it’s a combo spot/flood. Works great in all adverse conditions, these are Diode Dynamic.

This is super helpful! Thank you! I’ve been going back and forth between combo and the driving beam. This makes sense.

For every day driving I have diode dynamics SSC2 Pro in a wide corning lens. The bronco headlights do not throw light much to the sides and in the dark when corning at slow speeds the diode lights do a fantastic job at lighting up the side for this purpose.

I always get spot beam, with Baja D's you can buy different lenses after the fact. As far as color I run Amber covers on my BDs unless offroad, they simply pop on.

XL Single Rock Guard - Universal - Baja Designs - Off-Road LED & Laser Lights | Automotive, Jeep, Truck, UTV, ADV, Dirtbike
Oh that’s smart then you can have the best of both worlds. So you bought all 3 pairs as spot whites then added for example combo lenses that allowed you to change out your patterns? The covers are smart because you could leave them amber the pop them off as the situation changed the need for different lights.

Shoot me a message if you need help. The CrystaLux harness that Smocaine mentioned is included with our fog kits. Makes installation a breeze.

Here are some very good videos on practical comparisons of beam patterns and outputs between some of these lights. Videos are from Diode Dynamics and Headlight Revolution (Morimoto) but generally have fair sampling methods.
I probably watched these a dozen times each while setting up my kit.

For fog lights I’d go with Baja Designs Squadron SAE or Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro in a combo beam for a great mix of performance and road legality. If you're still shopping, OffRoadUSA.com has solid deals on lighting - worth a look!

I have DD SAE fog and driving pods…if you are using them on road be respectful, get SAE lights And adjust them properly!

yes, definitely just looking to get good coverage to supplement the headlights. I think the SAE Fogs in white and Amber are locked in now I’m deciding on driving or combo.
