Thought it was about time to post my build thread!
I picked up my Bronco Wildtrak in early 2025 as a lease return with 45k km to replace my Ford Ranger. The Ranger was great but as I priced up a truck camper, new suspension etc. I quickly realised that upgrading to a Bronco was going to be cheaper and more capable.
The Bronco started off totally stock, with the spec I was looking for (Hard top and no leather were my two major wants). I wasn't particularly looking for a Wildtrak but this one was the right price and after a bit of negotiation along with a super high trade in offer for the Ranger I was set
First mods were very simple, with an RCI roofrack going on to mount my FSR Adventure rooftop tent carried over from the Ranger for my first camping trip:
Being in Canada parts are a little more limited, I had intended to get a TrailRax rack but none of the shops near me locally could get one and importing myself put the price significantly higher than the RCI. I've been very happy with the RCI and would definitely recommend it based on my experiences.
Next I picked up a Velocirax 4-bike vertical rack, Bluetti EB55 Power Station and a Bouge RV fridge, along with a few other camp items. The Velocirax in 'camp' mode allows access into the tailgate where my fridge is stored. The fridge is plugged into the Bluetti which in turn is plugged into the 12v in the trunk, I also picked up a 100W solar panel for longer spells between driving, but haven't used this yet, even after charging my e-bike battery.
Unfortunately on this trip my tent leaked badly and I ripped a hole in the sidewall of one of the tires on one of the smoother gravel roads in BC. Changing a tire on the Bronco as Toyota Camrys flew past kinda sucked, so from there I picked up 4 new Falken Wildpeak ATW4's in stock size, an Intrepid Geo 2.5 tent (ex-demo luckily, these are super pricey new), a Morrflate compressor and lines and some overload springs (Dobinsons?) for the rear, with the tent, 4 bikes and fridge the rear was starting to sag.
Huge fan of the Intrepid tent, the extra fold in the front gives you so much more space up there and its just about big enough to store bedding in, which I couldn't do in the old FSR tent.
From there I did a 7,000km mountain biking trip around BC from Alberta all the way to the West Coast with two friends where the truck performed faultlessly! Unfortunately didn't get to go off-road too much but camped all 14 nights of the trip in comfort.
From there another 8,000km trip into Montana and Idaho with my brother followed where I finally got to take the truck off road. Spent some time exploring across Montana including Lolo and Skalkaho Pass before heading down to the Sawtooths and Lost River Range in Idaho, really love this area and have so many more routes on my list to come back and try. No crazy offroading here but was nice to use a little more of the trucks capability.
Camping at ~8000ft in the Lost River Range was a highlight
Finally, from there I picked up a FSR 270 Awning and a Front Runner Tailgate Table along with a few other small bits.
Unfortunately my work schedule has been flat out recently so haven't had a chance to camp with the new awning but got out for a day around Crowsnest Pass and the awning seems perfect for what I needed on first use. The table was expensive but again being in Canada the choice was a little more limited and I wanted the slide out chopping board.
Up next is a front bumper and winch, as my work schedule means I'm mostly out solo in areas of no service so the ability to recover myself is pretty important and has held me back from accessing a few cool spots I've scoped out.
With winter coming I'm not expecting to get out too much, but have picked up a cheap diesel heater if the opportunity does arise. Next big trip will likely be to Utah in April/May which I'm looking forward to, if anyone has any recommendations please let me know!

Ross
