Area 51 thread

My first reaction was area 51 all the way, but now that I've seen the official color charts, the problem is that it is a non metallic.

I can't even remember the last time I owned a non metallic painted car ... short of my xj.

There is just something about a flat color that is a turn off. I noticed that many manufacturers seem to be offering more and more of those plain colors. That flat toyota brown looks like what you'd see in the bottom of an out-house!

I'll have to see it in person but imo nothing beats a metallic with an added layer of clear to get that depth... maybe I can convince the wife to go with the triple layered cyber orange.

It kind of reminds me of the rhino grey from jeep a few years back, blue in some light, grey in other light...with some green tossed in there too

Oof, ford didn't really knock the colors out of the park.

I was very excited about the Area51 at first glance because I thought it was straight up grey, like the Toyota cement grey. The slight hint of blue kills it for me. I just feel like it's in between two colors, and in a bad way.

I like the cactus grey, but I think it might be a little too "on the nose" retro for me to enjoy long term - this is for fedora wearers. I love this color and fedoras but I can't pull off either.

I love black vehicles, but hate owning them and keeping them clean.

So oxford white for me. I've always liked the Stormtrooper look.

Would love a dessert tan, coyote brown or cement grey color (yes I really like Toyota's colors.)

I was excited for this color and even a personalized plate on the ready (see below) BUT this thread has shown me that this color is really common and I like to pick colors that are not common. I hope we get to see some real pics soon

Unfortunately all the Bronco colors are “common” with the exception of orange. I wish Ford had been as daring with the color palette as they were with the design.

So what is with the flat colors... is it supposed to make touch ups easier or are they just wanting to cheap out on the paint because metallic is harder.
