Here's a positive for the MIC 2.0 hard top.

Recently, our area got slammed with nasty storms and 2"+ hail. Both my Badlands and my daughters took approximately 20 minutes of heavy rain and hail. Both have MIC 2.0 hard tops, and neither top shows any visible damage, nor did our windshields. Unfortunately, both of the bodies sustained considerable damage. Luckily no one was hurt, and thus far, insurance has been great to work with.

I'll keep a close watch on the tops and report if anything undetected shows up at a later date.

Cheers!

Sorry for the rig but glad to hear that no one was hurt. I have always been curious to know how insurance handles these kind of damages. Is this considered a total loss?

I haven't got the final report back yet, but so far, no. Because of the modularity of the Bronco the adjuster was looking at replacing all of the doors, fenders, quarters, and hood vs trying to repair what's on the vehicles. Plus I had Xpel PPF and they would have to remove and replace... twice the labor. The resale value also factors in to totaling. And I have a rider on my policy that they have to replace the vehicle with a new one of the same model & features. Those are hard to find right now.

I'll post what the final decision is.

Man that is rough. I hope everything goes smoothly with insurance.

I hope for your sake I'm wrong but it looks like you might have a small hole with some cracks in that first picture of the top.

Ufda, sorry to hear about the hail damage. That’s rough. My old Tacoma got fully worked by hail so I understand the pain. Good luck.

I doubt these will be totaled. PDR can fix that without an issue. My Escape was hit twice. Looked like somebody went crazy with a Ballpeen hammer. They did replace the hood the second time as it was deemed more cost effective.

Good thing it wasn’t 3 inch hail. This is what that did to my skylight in Texas.

Not even close. I did tech support Recon Pro, who does software for PDR guys. Each insurance company has tables of damage size and amount per body panel. Might be a days work for 1 tech. He'll pay the deductible for his comprehensive coverage.

On the bright side, it is now guilt-free trail ready. It is the trauma of that first scratch or ding that is the hurdle. :)

I always say, "New truck? Go ahead and key a scratch into the bed to get it over with."
