So my Bronco is nearing 4 years of age (Mar 22 build), and finally had it's first "real" warranty claim. It has had many recalls (7 and counting I think...) , and a center MIC panel replacement (but the entire MIC roof is just a train wreck for Ford/Webasto so I put that in a different bucket)

Up until now it has just been oil changes at the dealership, and I have replaced the cabin filter and engine air filter on my own. But at my last oil change as part of their multi-point inspection, there was an oil leak from the front axel pinion gear seal. It couldn't have been big because I would have noticed on my garage floor.

Anyway it was covered under the 5 year/50K mile powertrain warranty. I still haven't used my extended Ford warranty. For all the jokes about Ford quality (Fix Or Repair Daily) I have been pleasantly surprised at how trouble-free my Bronco has been.

This was my 7th oil change ($70) and I have replaced the cabin filter and engine air filter 1x each ($25 and $35). Still on the OG wiper blades and tires (will need new tires by this December as I am down to 6-7mm of tread left). So other than gas, the maintenance on my Bronco has been $550. I am pleasantly surprised after 38K miles.

I hope most owners have had a trouble free first couple of years like I have. I can only hope that the next 4 years are equally as uneventful.

My 22 has been basically trouble free as well. Only has 19k miles on it. Do my own oil and filters using full synthetic and WIX filters. Doing drivetrain fluids in the spring. Occasionally reset windows and the common CarPlay issues along with the few minor recalls and TSB/satisfaction repairs. I’m happy. But worried long term about cost of parts. Electronic parts especially.

My 21 has been great. A few window resets but nothing big. My service center botched an oil change, cracked a drain plug, but I took it back to them and they did a re-do on my full synthetic oil change and gave me a voucher for another free works syn oil change.

I swear I have an electronic lemon. Most of my issues that wont go away are electronics, but I also had the front pinion leak bad enough that the front dif exploded at 29kmiles, covered under warranty. The electronic errors the dealer cannot even figure out. At this point I'm looking to sell it soon and maybe come back in a few years to a new one.

Hell, I am resetting my windows and radio at least once a week! But there is nothing Ford can do fix those issues and it is simple to resolve on our own. Those are "software bugs" IMO. As long as they don't leave me stranded somewhere, I can live with them. I don't like them, but I can live with them.

Dang, sorry to hear that. As a long-time employee of the semiconductor and electronics industry I feel ya. They do a decent job of "guard-banding" electronics but occasionaly you can get a confluence of factors that really make things go wonky electronically and they are a major PITA to resolve, and in some cases they are not resolvable. So sorry about your lack of joy there.

And I guess I am glad they found the leak early and I guess one of the benefits of getting a service org (dealer or indy) to do my oil changes because I probably would have found my leak too late and suffered a similar fate. I am glad yours was covered under warranty!

Funny thing is our 24 Maverick rarely has a radio issue and our 23 Sport never has one. Whatever computer that controls the Bronco seems to have the poorest design. Don’t understand the window issue. Power windows are not new. I don’t think software updates can fix any of it. If it could it would have.

in my opinion, it has something to do with the frameless windows. The Maverick and bronco sport have framed doors, so the window does not have to drop a half inch or so to clear the rubber seal at the top of the door.

There is something about the logic control that gets jumbled up for some indeterminant reason and you simply have to reset the top and bottom window stops so that it “remembers “ what to do when the door opens and closes.

it definitely irritates me, but it only takes 30 seconds to fix it every time it happens

I used to install this option in cars back in the 90’s. No issue then. Things are over complicated today.

Agreed, but my 2005 Mustang with frameless windows and auto drop works flawlessly. Who knows?

haha. Well that throws a wrench into my logic. The person I was replying to was comparing 2 Fords with fully framed doors. If you have a Mustang that never has a problem with the "window drop down", I don't know what to tell you, unless it has something to do with the logic on a Bronco door that allows it to be removed for off-roading.

Yep, I'll bet it's too smart by half.

Well my 22 MIC hardtop is leaking like a
Broken dam and the premium extended warranty does NOT cover it. Spoke to Ford directly today and they have some program where they Subsidize the cost of repairs, which if you are unaware is 9.5k for the hard top and 500 for weatherstrip plus the diagnose fee yada yada. Even though we all know of MIC issues they don't cover it and Ford wont cover it without a Ford recall. So despite this being my 4th bronco in my lifetime, this is the only one I have had problems with.

Update; Ford came back with a generous cost share and my part would be just at 3k: however I only get the cab, not a whole roof. That is 4 1/2 time the cost of the hard top when it was bought if you're doing the math. So I told them to pack sand. I did pay to have one of the weather strips replaced and found a solution for all of you when this happens. Photo below: no instructions required, novice skills required.
