What makes a good radiator? Do I need a radiator? At Mishimoto, radiators are at the core of what we do, and one of the most common questions we hear is: “My temps are creeping up… should I just go bigger?” A performance aluminum radiator can absolutely improve cooling by increasing heat dissipation, durability, and consistency under load—especially compared to stock units with plastic end tanks. But here’s the catch: bigger isn’t always better. That’s because cooling depends on the entire system—airflow through the grille, fan performance, and core design, such as tube size, fin density, and row configuration—not just on size alone. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution either; what works for a daily driver may not work for a track car or a tow rig. Choosing the right radiator comes down to matching the design to how the vehicle is used. To dive deeper into what makes a good radiator, check out one of our latest blogs:

Is it made of plastic like the one Ford uses?

@KTM300 No, our performance aluminum radiators offer a significant upgrade over the factory crimped plastic rads that become brittle and crack over time.

@Valhalla you're cleaning your radiator?

yes, just low-pressure open hood back flow, it is muddy in east TN, years of wheeling has taught me this.

... all good BUT doesn't help if the Thermostat is 200* controlling inbound flow to the engine.
Ford's OEM is good but emissions require a hotter Thermostat ... lower it too much and now you need to return the ECU

Right now we're developing an intercooler kit for the Bronco Raptor which is slated to release this fall. A radiator is also on our list but we don't have a set release date just yet. We'll update you here when we know more!

I have your F 150 transmission cooler on my V8 swapped bronco and can confirm your aluminum products are FAR superior to OEM plastic!!! Im SO pleased with your products, I also just ordered your aluminum coolant tank replacement for the Bronco. The original OEM plastic developed a crack and a leak that was difficult to diagnose. Thanks for your support of all the vehicles!!!
