Howdy all - I currently have a '25 F150 Raptor 37pkg and thinking about getting into another Bronco. I'm leaning toward a Raptor and am curious whether anyone is having transmission issues. I looked through the forum and didn't see many complaints about the transmission which is a good sign.

The F150 10 speed in my '25 is awful, probably the worst I've ever had. It skips gears, clunks on hills coming to a stop, lurches from 3 to 4 and 7 to 8. Apparently it's "normal" behavior for the 10R80 although there's been quite a few recalls and replacements.

I know the transmission is different for the Bronco Raptors and maybe it's tuned better to the 3.0 vs the 3.5 HO. I'm actually also considering a 7-speed manual in a regular Bronco just to avoid getting another rig with an awful transmission.

Finally, anyone who's gone from a F150 Raptor to Bronco Raptor and wouldn't mind sharing their thoughts I'd appreciate it.

My only criticism of the Braptor trans is that it likes to shift a lot at highway speeds. I think it’s tied directly to the throttle position sensor. If I give it just a slight throttle tip in to maintain current speed, it will downshift a few gears. But if I have my cruise set, on the same exact section of road, the bronco will increase throttle and it never comes out of 10th gear. As far as F-150 Raptor vs Braptor, I had both at the same time. The truck was also a 37PP. In the end, I kept my Braptor. Just way more fun. However, if you need a truck you will know it when you don’t have one.

I had 2018 raptor and currently own a 2023 braptor with 30k miles on it. In just regular drive mode it does skip just like f150 raptors but in sport mode the braptor goes threw each gear however it will rev match when down shifting, that is something that may or may not bother you. Haven't had any transmission issues nor has it slammed into gear like my raptor did or have any slamming into 4th or 5th gear when in sport mode. Imo the braptor transmission is definitely better but I would not say it's great. I'd probably go to carmax that has one available to test drive see if it's worth it for you. I haven't been in a gen3 raptor so can't comment on that part. Agree with post above for me Braptor much more fun, had to borrow trailers for doing truck stuff

Mine has been solid. the 10R60 is solid. I will say it behaves better now tuned than it did stock. One example being is doesn't skip 2nd on upshifts from a stop. I never liked that.

The ford shift mapping is terrible, When I got my whipple tune it made it a joy to drive, including not skipping gears. I think most tunes address bad shift mapping.

Unfortunately, I've experienced many (and other) of the negative behaviors mentioned in the OP in my Braptor. They all are from poor software. Ford could have done much better.

The 7MT is absolutely a blast - but it’s definitely not a Raptor. Apples and Oranges

For me personally the 7MT wins by a mile, but I know how you Raptor folks are and you may have different expectations.

Yeah, my bar is very high based on BMW M-DCT and Porsche PDK trannies. Those are great and unreal respectively.

The 10R60 (w/Raptor) isn't bad at all. I would say good overall. It just lacks some precision/refinement and has minor bugs.

I know I am comparing dual clutch units to a torque converter automatic, but it's a totally fair comparison as modern autos, with good hardware and more importantly great software can pretty well match a dual clutch.

I was thinking more along the lines of:

non-Raptor: "4Lo is the way to go"
Raptor: "There is only go, and go faster"

I have a '24 BRaptor. With the installation of the Ford Performance tune the tranny has better shift behavior and a bit more HP and torgue.

A 2025 Braptor here. Totally stock with no tunes or tweaks. Lots of daily driving and off-road is all beach. Have no issues with function or performance and it works for me just fine. Like a previous comment, I’ve spent time with Porsche PDKs so that remains the top shelf - but the Braptor transmission works for my use without complaint.
