You can mod vehicles that are leased and then just return them to stock before you bring them back.
This will be my argument for the Badlands. Figure my wife won't want the OEM tires sitting in our garage for the lease term haha (if I got an outer banks).

25-35k/yr right now.

Yeah, I realize I could unmod stuff, but I'm pretty lazy. And you have to keep the stock parts laying around somewhere... (well, I do that mostly anyway, but I ~could~ throw them out)
That's a lot of miles. I wouldn't feel good driving a Bronco that many miles though. I'd be in something Japanese for sure. Nissan/Toyota/Honda

Bronco isn't the most comfortable for that many miles, I have to agree. But it makes me happy driving it, so I do.

I keep thinking about getting another vehicle for the long runs, but nothing I’d rather drive than my 7MT.

Maybe if I had to brave LA more often I would change my mind - the 405 makes anyone consider an Abrams.

Comfort and reliability would be the issues for me. They don't say Found On Road Dead for no reason...
Comfort-wise, the Bronco is great if the trips are an hour or so. Any longer and my back and legs ache. This is most definitely not a comfortable vehicle

Since I always buy, yet haven't paid off a vehicle in about 20+ years, thinking of leasing this time around and see if it's 'a keeper' first. Been having bad luck with vehicles having problems and just not wanting to keep them after the warranty expires.

I've never leased before. So am I still looking for the best price before financing is discussed? Or is lease payment really all I should be concerned about?

Additionally, would I save money ordering one? Or just finding one in a dealers inventory?

Currently thinking an Outer Banks with the 2.7, color matched top, heated seats. I'd like the Sasquatch package, but don't need lockers really. So looks like it would be less to add a basic lift and 35" tires after. Problem with a lease is I'd have to keep all the parts and return it to stock if I return it.
Sounds like Badlands might be a better pick for you as opposed to outer banks. it will already come with a lift with or without SAS. I think you can now get color matched tops on Badlands and heated seats. Heck, I have heated seats in my big bend. You could easily pull the crashbars and install SAS takeoffs if you really wanted the full look.

Can you reinstall the crash bars pretty easily? Are they bolt in?

I do think the Badlands would be a better fit. Though not sure my wife would agree with the added cost. Definitely prefer the wheels and tires, and the overall look.

Yup. Bolt on. The crash bar mounts still poke in a little bit and prevent anything much larger but plenty of room for 35s. SAS doesnt even have the bars from the factory

I don't think it's really added cost though. Baseline OBX and baseline Badlands are almost the same price. Here's the starting point with no options.

I just checked the configurator. You'll have to pay the same fee for a painted hard top; OBX comes with softtop standard. it does come with the heated seats, while you'd have to spec that in the badlands for 1600.

That said, a non SAS badlands will come with 4.46 gears (assuming automatic) and 33s. the OBX comes with 3.73 gears on 32s. I think the wheel and tire choice for a daily driver would be better with the 4.46 gears, particularly if you are looking to get SAS takeoffs (35s). FWIW, I have 4.46 in my Big Bend (manual) and I am planning to go to 33s when the time is right.

I'd definitely play with the builder and see what the ideal capability/price point works out to be. Everytime I look at them, Badlands seems like it offers the most for your money. Outer Banks charges you a premium to be a essentially a Big Bend with mid package out of the box, and opens up the Lux technology package.

Yes, definitely prefer the lower gears. I'd keep the 33" tires until the lease is up. BFG are great tires. Though long term, would want 35".

I have never returned a leased car, traded them in or bought them out. that way you dont really have to worry about mileage. I have leased many cars, but I did lease the bronco so I can trade in in 3 years on another one.

Most... of the time the value is right about the trade in price or you can get a little bit back out of the deal towards a down payment I'll find out in a couple of years.

BFG KO2 isn't standard on the Badlands anymore. You get a Goodyear Territory RT now I believe.

Definitely not as good, but would be good enough if they're 33". Plus easier to justify an 'early' replacement.

haha certainly better than the Bridgestone Deulers on the OBX if you ever take it off pavement.
