πŸ˜… I came across yet another cracked windshield post this morning, and it got me thinking...

At this point, windshield cracks seem to be one of the most common topics in the Bronco community. Some owners make it years without an issue, while others end up with a crack surprisingly early.

Personally, I'm curious:

How long did your original Bronco windshield last before the first crack or major rock chip?

And for those who have already joined the "cracked windshield club" 🍻, have you found anything that actually helps?

I've seen owners mention everything from changing driving habits to hood deflectors and windshield protection film, but opinions seem to be all over the place.

Also, a bit of a selfish question from our side...

If Mabett ever looked into a Bronco hood deflector, is that something you'd actually consider installing, or do you think it wouldn't make much difference?

Interested to hear some real-world experiences.

2024 WildTrak, built 11/14, purchased 1/25. Mileage at 12,125, still on the original windshield with no chips or cracks.

I did have windshield film from STEK applied about 4months in (about a year ago). I only recall a couple of hits to the windshield, but don't know if they were hard enough to damage the glass if it had been unprotected.

I'm not a fan of hood deflectors, purely from an aesthetic perspective. Had one on a Pathfinder I owned many years ago and just didn't like the look.

I have no cracks or chips on my 2022 OBX SAS after 16,000 miles. I installed EXO Shield film before i took my first 2500 mile trip. Glad i did because i saw several quarter size rocks bounce off without damaging my windshield. I installed it myself and would highly recommend professional install.
Going on 3 years, EXO Shield holding up well. I clean my glass with alcohol free spray as recommended. If you were off road - lot of mud/dust it would scratch / wear faster and you would probably be replacing sooner.
The near vertical windshield is a magnet for rocks, similar to jeeps.

First week of production 2022. Got a chip in the first week. Installed hood deflector and nothing since then.
Chip has not turned into a crack.

'24 with 10k. Just got my first chip on a trip to Yellowstone. After lots of rock chip issues in cars, I am very cautious about follow distance (though more importantly to not die in a wreck) but I got a chip while passing a semi in wet/windy conditions on I-80.

Luckily it's low in front of the passenger and just a small ding not a crack.

Ironically, right before the trip I was just considering getting a PPF style clear cover on the thing since it was pristine before. I angered the rock chip gods trying to deny them their pleasure.

I read that you can get an epoxy filler kit that can fill a chip (that is not actually cracked) to make it less visible. I will probably look into that.

20 kms down the road after leaving the dealership with my brand new 2026 heritage on Saturday, golf ball sized smash, also put 2 dents in the hood and a scratch before hitting dead center, was quoted $1,600 cdn to replace, thrilled with the whole deal...

Got my first chip/crack the very first day I left the dealership. Doing a 800 road trip home. I bought the windshield package as I live in Colorado -apparently windshields don't seem to last on any vehicle (in the 30 years of living in Colorado). So, I am a happy camper as replacing my windshield costs me zero dollars to replace.

Exoshield has been great! No chips or cracks and the only damage from the rocks hitting my windshield have been to the film itself. Definitely worth it!!

My '22 was bought used with 12K miles and one poorly repaired chip and another chip that I repaired. My repair, my first ever, came out great. I struggle to find it. No more in the 18K miles since. Our '24 took 3 months and about 3K mikes to get its first chip. I repaired that, too. Not a bad job but not perfect, but it was a much bigger chip. Pic of the '24...
