My garage has engineered joists and spray foam insulation. I really don't want to mess with trying to hang a hoist from the ceiling with that.

I am considering a hoist that is attached to wall studs instead. I'm not sure if the idea is crazy, and if not what would be a good way to go about it?

Anyone done anything like this that can share how they did it?

The winch from my Lange Hoist is mounted to my wall studs. You’ll still need to have something in your ceiling to support the pulley’s center rhe lifting brace over the top. I leave mine hanging from the ceiling when not on the Bronco and I park under it.

Should be easy enough to build a frame from the wall to hoist the top, I'm in the same boat and will look into doing something like this when I get finished with the garage build. Two boards out 90 degrees and a couple supports at 45 would be sufficient I would think based on the weight of the top. Mount the winch or pulley to the wall and redirect over frame edge.
