Ran 2/3rds the roof and a cargo cover

Just got in from 2 weeks on the road running this set up. Covered 2500 miles and in all weather. Highway, off road and everything in between. In torrential rain just the back headrests got a bit wet but I was able to angle the cargo cover so that 99% of the water ran off the tailgate. Surprisingly this worked really well and thanks to Bucking Adventures for the panel latch for the passenger roof section. Everything was stable up to 90mph on occasion and my cheap Amazon cargo cover worked flawlessly with no flapping. The cargo area remained dry.

Thanks for your post because I know that the owners manual forbids having the other roof panels in place when the clamshell is not, but I didn't know there was an accessory (Bucking Adventures trail latch) that makes this interesting roof configuration possible. And your Bronco looks great doing it! It's also good to know you've field tested this setup in rain and at high speed. I have my clamshell off all summer but as autumn approaches I was thinking I would have to put it back on so I could have the luxury of front and middle row panels in chillier weather. You taught me otherwise. Thanks!

You can run front and middle panels with no additional attachments other than factory at highway speeds with no issues. You can do this with all doors removed as well.

I’ve done that as well. The attachment does add an element of rigidity that I wouldn’t have noticed without it. I’ve ran both configurations over thousands of miles. This was just the first time I did it weather regardless

That was well designed. I wondered how it would be addressed. I have run many miles without the rear shell. Love how the air just flows through the Bronco without all the wind buffeting, especially with the rear cargo cover smoothing the flow over the rear gate.

Interesting! I've certainly done the reverse, front and passenger's panels removed but rear in place. I have an EZ Trunk installed which won't keep out water although I'd likely not run without a top if rain is threatening. I do have a sun shade installed 100% of the time, panels or no panels.

Just ordered the trail latch. I tend to leave my roof off most of the winter (Texas) but this looks like a good option for those occasional cold mornings and will make it far easier to partially install the top prior to leaving for work.

I've run without any panels or the rear clamshell down to 45 degrees. The heated seats steering wheel definitely come in handy and honestly, if there were some sort of "windbreaker" mechanism across the rear seat, with the Bimini in place, windows up, it's actually pretty comfortable.
