In the process of doing the final test drive on my Bronco after the trans and xfer case replacement, the tech noticed a burnt oil smell and found that I had a cracked turbo oil return tube on the passenger side turbo. They replaced it and confirmed no leak now.

I had noticed a smell on 2 or 3 occasions but attributed it to something else. I never had drips in the garage and the only drips on the engine skidplate that I saw were right under the original oil drain plug which started seeping after 5 oil changes. I replaced that at the next oil change.

Seems like this would be at least a minor fire risk so I’m very glad they caught it.

Anyone else had this happen?

That could have been bad, glad they found it.
