So I’ve been shocked at the amount of people pointing the finger at me here.
1- the dealer cashed the check but hasn’t filed anything at the RMV. So as far as the state is concerned I haven’t paid, $3200. I’m not eating that. Plus I don’t have the title. You can’t just walk in and register a car with the vin # written on a napkin.
2- New England are tiny states. Dealers cross borders all the time here. It’s common and expected. I pay the dealer, they pay the state (my state)
3- dealer said they can’t reissue temp tags in NH. One per vehicle. First thing I asked. Simple solution wasn’t an option
4- After week one I called and asked about plates; they said an insurance paperwork snafu. Next Monday.
After second week they said never received insurance paperwork….total lie. I called Progressive and there was zero requests for any forms. All calls, emails are atomically marked.
Call back at the end of week and they have no real reason. Slipped through the cracks. Speak to the GM and vent…call back insurance company and as I’m on the phone a request comes in for the appropriate forms. The agent is telling me this in real time.
The dealer does attempt (supposedly) to register the vehicle on the final day my temps are good, but now is at the whim of the state and is at the back of the line. Doesn’t happen.
5- if this was my only car I’d be stranded, Labor Day weekend. Most people have one car. This could be catastrophic for many people. (My mother is in hospice but I was able to fulfill my responsibilities because I have a work truck to drive)
6- Ford called me to welcome me to the family and ask about my experience; I was honest.
In My poor google review I still gave them a 2 ⭐ because the price was fair. And it could be changed if they make “amends”
7- this is my 7th new car. I’ve never had any issues like this in the past.
8- What was/am I expecting for them to make things right? Free floor mats, extended warranty, gift certificates, etc……you know, basic customer service a company does after they know they F’d up.
I figured these would be the answers I would get on here, not finger pointing at me or saying this is normal. This is not normal or acceptable. And I believe Ford agrees because they emailed me back asking if the issues have been resolved…nope.

I bought my Bronco in central PA. Drove it off the lot with PA temp tags and PA inspection stickers. Dealer did not handle any of the remigration or taxes for New Jersey. Took certificate of origin and sales receipt to NJ DMV paid sales tax and other fees there.
