The long awaited rear shock recall is finally out and has a repair available.

It appears that in some cases, It’s not as cut and dry as simply replacing the shocks.

That is a pretty lame repair. And I thought the hose clamps on the seat track of my F-150 was a pretty cheapo fix…I understand the need to drive down warranty costs to improve ROIC/bottom line, but I am fascinated by the way FOMOCO seems to think this can be done by developing minimally viable repairs which could disenfranchise their customer base. Sigh…

At least the boot clamps isn’t terrible and kinda goes with the looks of the shock.

As for RTV…. Jesus. I can just imagine where I’m gonna find it after a tech touches it. 🫣

Momentarily happy the recall is available.
Now everyone will be pissed they are not getting new rear shocks.
The bigger problem is that Ford is trying to fix corroding shocks by adding sealant and a clamp. If there's any corrosion on the shocks, all that's going to do is prolong the issue until you're out of warranty.

Yeah. Seal in that corrosion. That will stop it. I wonder if the fix for the fuel pump recall will also involve RTV.
Nah, an inside source told me it’ll be hot glue instead 🤣
