4 awesome days on the Ozark Overland Adventure Trail

My wife and I did a solo camping trip running 4 of the 5 days of the Ozark Overland Adventure Trail (OOAT) It was great! We ran it in reverse because that got us from Texas to our destination in Arkansas. Water is low and some crossings are completely dry so I’ll be back to try it when the water is higher (but not too high) We camped out of the Bronco using our Deepsleep mattresses and a sleeping platform I built. It’s tight and very brushy so my MEK Magnet body armor won MVP honors. I wouldn’t do the trip without some sort of body protection (and personal protection) It gets into some pretty remote areas with no cell service so going alone probably isn’t advisable. All in all it is a fantastic trip and very beautiful.

Looks like fun. How do you protect the paint from brush damage ? You also may want to look into the new Satellite texting service available on newer higher end phones. Allows you to send help requests when out of range of cell towers.

MEK Magnet panels saved our paint. It’s a set of pre cut adhesive (ish) panels that protect the paint. They have magnetic versions too for non aluminum vehicles. We did have the satellite texting option if needed. Some of the towns on the maps don’t exist anymore so it definitely made it feel more remote than I expected going in.

That's why I bought two Wavian gas cans. It's even more of a problem in the Western States.

That's why I bought two Wavian gas cans. It's even more of a problem in the Western States.

I had 2.5 gallons of extra fuel we never needed but I was starting to wonder

Thanks! Yes I installed myself. Took the better part of a day but I love how it looks. I’ve gotten so many compliments from people young and old alike! I thought it’d just be for the trip but I think I’m leaving them on

Hahaha! Luckily we didn’t but we had a close run in with what we believe was a mountain lion late one night near our camp.

Nope. We were completely solo. We saw an occasional rig out there but I really thought we’d see a lot more people than we did. We were well equipped but I didn’t feel confident enough to try every obstacle. I might do a single night alone but not multiple days again.
