So while I am waiting for my dumb ass dealer to get me the bronco I actually wanted, I went ahead and contacted another dealer about possibly trading in the wrong bronco in exchange for a 2 door, 2.7 etc. I just got a call and a voicemail from the latter dealer, and he's saying Ford isn't allowing any order submissions for the 2.7 ecoboost for the rest of the year....
Anyone have any insight to this? Are they really going to limit 2022 to mainly 2.3l?
My dealer just updated mine yesterday & I have a 2.7… he didn’t seem to have any problems. Got the email confirmation from Ford a few hours after talking to him.

I wonder how new that is…

Your dealer doesn't get paid until your vehicle is delivered and sold. With dealership turnover numbers what they are, there's a good chance he ain't even gonna be there when your 2.7 finally gets delivered. It's in his best interest to talk you down to that 2.3 — even if it involves telling a little lie to get you there — so he can get your money sooner.

I get the whole, "my dealer said" end of the argument, but why wouldn't they want to submit an order for the pricier engine?

Again, this obviously wouldn't apply to people who've already placed orders, because they've been placed.... I'm asking in regards to new orders as of this week, more specifically as of today.
As for why would the dealer doesn't want to submit and order that includes a 2.7L is that perhaps under current constraints they forsee that all of 2022 production will be fulfilling existing orders or at the very least very late in the year....if the dealer wants to be able to get the sale done as soon as possible they may be saying no orders can be placed in order to get you to drop the 2.7L in favor of the smaller engine which they know likely will be available sooner.

In my experience, dealers play it pretty fast and loose with the truth in order to try and get a buyer to take what they have on the lot (vs trade with other dealer or order) or can get easier. I can go on and on with some personal experiences. The best way to find the truth is to talk with multiple dealers. Some will be very quick to tell you the other dealer is playing this game or that if they think there is a chance you will go to them instead. Also sometimes asking "I had heard a rumor that xyz" is this correct?" at another dealer will get a different answer.

Parts constraints are a fact of life when it comes to manufacturing, especially vehicles.
Every manufacturer deals with it and the 2.7 will reopen for ordering when the constraint is over.
Has nothing to do with defects, recalls, etc. They plan for certain amounts and when those inventories are exhausted that particular item goes on "Restriction" for however long it takes to get more of said item.

I think people need to differentiate when they say they submitted an order yesterday, last friday, etc, if that is a New Order or a re-order of a '21. If you are re-ordering they aren't going to stop you from re-ordering a 2.7, it would just push you back in the line. If what that dealer said is true, it would only be on new orders being placed for the 1st time.

This is all speculation anyway since it is basically saying, "I heard a guy that said......."

What are the odds that the dealer is looking to get as many buildable units (2.3 L) as early as possible to maximize ADM opportunities?
We need more conspiracy theorists in this forum...

If the dealer was fibbing, that's the sort of thing making this Bronco situation not fun. I don't want to deal with that malarkey and the people associated with it. I haven't even bothered messing around trying to transfer my order or play "find a dealer" games, because I don't need the aggrevation.

When I ordered mine last month to convert to 2022 my salesman did say that getting a 2.7 was on the 5 parts or combination of parts that could push the wait time into late next year. I think he said MIC top, towing package, Sasquatch package, 2.7 engine and tailgate sliding table I think.
I have a 2.7, lux, tow, mod bump, and sas and I was scheduled for 12/20 during the big Vin dump of 10/2021
