If you want to see the Bronco have an aftermarket remotely close to the Wrangler, the design is going to have to remain relatively unchanged for a long period and have enough Broncos on the road to support a huge aftermarket. My hope is that they follow the Wrangler's lead on generational changes. They have an excellent, lasting design if they will stick with it.

If Ford follows their usual pattern the mid-generation refresh will happen 2025 (give or take a year or two).

No idea what it will contain, but a hybrid is a possibility. The Wrangler 4xe is now the best-selling plug-in electric hybrid, and no doubt Ford will want a piece of that pie.

They key will be to see if anything comes of these F-150/Ranger/Maverick “Thunder” vehicles. We don’t know what those are, but good chance any hybrid power plant Ford comes up with for the Ranger will be well suited for the Bronco.
True, but it gets road tested like 20 miles on the charge...then it converts over to gas. It's not very off-road friendly because it has to have road'ish tires for the battery use maximization. It also sits lower and is very heavy. This works against its off-road prowess.

An ICU engine is better for the intended use of a Bronco, provided you will take it off-road at least one time...the 4xe is really best on the road, vs. off...and that is not really the reason you buy a Jeep...

Have you seen how many Wrangler Unlimiteds there are out there? Don't tell me that all, or even the majority of, people who own one bought it to take it off road. Not to mention that the purpose they bought theirs for is none of your business, so why gatekeep?

Also if you're trying to say that the option of having the instant torque of an electric motor supplementing the bottom end of an ICE doesn’t have more utility than pure ICE then there's probably just no reasoning left here.

I'd love a hybrid with a user removable battery. So that way if your going on a fun trip, remove the battery so you can get more range due to decreased weight. Doing your daily driving to and from work? Add the battery back in. Simple. Everyone wins. No one has done it yet though. But the main complaints over the Jeep 4xe is that hybridization decreases off road range due to increased weight after it runs out of juice. Especially on uphill climbs. Pure EVs can't escape the same issue and gives me too much range anxiety. But the gas mileage on current Broncos is atrocious (POV of someone who driven nothing but sedans his whole life).

Refresh , it cost Ford who knows how much money to build the 6G Bronco and they can't even get parts or get it right so they not going do a refresh for some time

So you’re telling me I can have pizza rolls and cross the continental divide at the same time? I’m in.
I can see it now, that exact scene being one of Mike Levines well staged advertising tweets. “Name another vehicle that you can off-road and cook in”

I think Rivian was working a removable second battery. The comparatively small (so light) battery in a hybrid vs. a plug-in hybrid may be the sweet spot for an off-roader. It would still give you that instant torque with e-motor assisting the ICE at its low end (not to mention smoothing out turbo lag).
How's about a system that's set up for PHEV with the extra battery in but then locked into "hybrid mode" when the extra battery is out?

But that was written in October of 2021. A year later and Ford still can't build all reservation orders. I agree with an earlier poster who suggested that it will get pushed out if only that there is no demand for a refresh. Ford has overwhelming demand for the current Bronco that they can't meet.
They keep adding special editions like the Raptor, Everglades and Heritage Edition and still can't fill regular trim level orders. Is it that far fetched that they will do a refresh that soon still not keeping up with orders?? This is Ford we're talking about.

While it makes no sense to do a refresh, all it would take is switching to the Everglades fenders and restamping a hood, and they would already have it.
