How's everyone today?

Real quick, when I'm accelerating, AC comes out warm, but when I'm just cruising or stop, it's fine and icy. 34k miles, '21 Badlands manual, mods in sig, and haven't taken her offroad in months, what could be going on?

Thanks in Advance

IIRC most compressors are clutched that under hard acceleration they disable so the motor isnt dragging extra resistance. that may have changed but several years ago that was definitely a thing

Not sure, but it might be normal to cut AC for wide open throttle. I've had other vehicles that seemed to do that. I just assumed it was to allow full power to accelerate.

if I had to guess, a cooling fan clutch is going out. works fine when passing air over the condenser, but when there's not enough volume of air, it shuts off. (had a BMW and a VW does the exact same thing, same symptom and solution each time)

I never use eco mode, so it's not that

Hmm, maybe. Also seems I need to drive it to get it to blow cold in the first place, then it works fine

What kinda job is that? I still got a bit of warranty left, think it'll be covered?

If you're still under the 36k warranty, I see zero reason it wouldn't be covered. I'd raise holy hell if they tried to push back on that.
I'll call and make an appointment soon then. Thanks Thud

Wide open throttle A/C compressor clutch cut out, when you push the go pedal hard enough the computer diverts all power away from the A/C and to the wheels.

Perfectly normal

The A /C compressor is turned off by the PCM at wide open throttle or under heavy throttle/heavy load to give maximum power to the wheels. That has been the case for a long while on about all vehicles on the road.

Just before you punch the gas, in your best Capt James T Kirk voice scream, “Scotty, divert all power to the main thrusters“ and mash that gas pedal to the floor. It won’t fix it but it will be funny as hell.

You could just simply have a leak and now the system is undercharged. The compressor will cycle off more frequently under loads, due to a lower system pressure. I’ve replaced a few leaky evaporators and condensers on 21-23 Broncos.

Now I will do that, apperciate that!

Bringing her in the 12th, so I'll find out what it is soon enough (Gotta love this time of year, they get booked fast)

Haven't noticed that in other vehicles before, so gonna go with Sam B above with it's probably a leak. Still, I'll take it into account, Area 51
