I’m installing the Naviks and front camera today And wondered where is everyone getting power for the camera? I was planning to just tap into a switched 12v, but thought I’d ask if there’s a known source that easy and works?

I installed the single front camera version a couple weeks ago. The naviks cable provides the video connection AND a wire for camera power. If I recall correctly, it is labeled ACC.

Naviks unit does have an ACC line on the unit itself and that is enough to power one camera.

I had the front and both sides, so I did the tap in the engine fuse box instead,, and wired all three to a 5A fuse. The cameras I used only drew 1A each, so this works, with 2A headroom.

There is a down side to this install that I did not know. It's not listed as a FAQ on Niviks website nor in the instructions. The side cameras when activated via turn signal cause the navigation to drop its GPS location. This affects Sync onboard navigation, Apple Maps, Waze, and Google maps via CarPlay. The GPS takes 30 seconds to 2 minutes to triangulate its current location.I may end up removing the interface. There is another Naviks interface but it's significantly more involved and i am not sure i want to go down that road.

Yeah it’s not ideal. What’s the other interface for the side cameras?

its part number NK-1324-8 it requires a video switcher and splicing into the factory wiring. I don't have a garage so with temps dropping fast I can't do anything until Spring. My workaround is using my work iPhone not connected to CarPlay for GPS.

Yeah it’s not ideal. What’s the other interface for the side cameras?

Anyone here get this front camera to work with the manual trans? I'm in the process of installing mine and testing it out and I can only get the front camera to come on when I'm in reverse and then I hold the menu button down for 5 seconds. Without using reverse it won't come on. Kind of stumped, I'll have to talk to Naviks on Monday, not sure what what else to try but they claimed to me it works with the manual after I asked them.

UPDATE: got it to work, for me I needed dip switches 2, 3,4,5,6 down(ON) to get the camera to come on for me with a manual trans. Not sure what others needed. All they mentioned when I asked for instructions was 5,6 need to be down (ON). 1 down (ON) if you want it to come on after you come out of reverse.

Got mine all together, very stoked on the end result. I thought getting the dash apart was actually easy, that sasquatch dash removal video that's out there was a huge help, it would be very hard without that video IMO, figuring out what to do without that would have been a pita. Shout out to @Preheateddinner for giving me some tips and info and guys like @strawhatguy for rekicking the front camera retrofit discussion off again. I can confirm the Naviks setup does work with the manual trans now.

I have the base grill and decided I wanted a really clean factory looking front camera mount so I ended up getting the OEM camera bracket and housing for the grill and retrofitted my camera into that. I like this setup since its clean and then also it points down which is what I want for when cresting very steep hills. The camera diameter was slightly smaller then the hole opening on the camera mount so I had to epoxy in a piece of plastic sheet into the back of the housing and then redrill to the camera size so the camera would be secure in the housing opening hole. Otherwise all I had to do was trim two pieces of plastic on the grill off and then bolt the mounts onto the back of the grill using the factory screws.

Camera I used:

RAAYOO L002
https://www.amazon.com/RAAYOO-Universal-Installation-Guildlines-non-mirror/dp/B074P45P7G
Parts I used for the grill:

Grill housing parts
M2DZ-8C324-ABPTM Cap-Camera QTY 1
M2DZ-19H421-A Front Camera Bracket QTY 1
W506973-S450B Bracket Screw QTY 3

I intend to retrofit the factory washer nozzle in also, but I still need to order the jet nozzle and hose parts. Was waiting to make sure this all worked out first before also adding that feature.

Wow definitely cleaner looking than mine! And I learned the oem camera had a washer to it. When does it turn on? With the window washer?

Eager to hear how that install goes!

I’ve been toying with the idea of doing this mod. I would love to do it with two front cameras, one of them being IR/ th to see during very bad weather. Has anyone done an IR camera yet?

I have a better work around for the GPS losing its location when I use the turn signals. I have an iPad Mini 6 w/cellular. I mounted it using the 67 designs universal tablet mount. I tethered it via USB to the head unit. Play music via the USB interface and Apple maps. I also add the route to my apple watch which alerts me to turns. I am working on using my iPad pro 11. I ordered a longer arm will test once I receive it.
