That's awful. Honestly, I'd probably just drive it until they get the parts in.

Ouch! Hopefully you won't get stuck in the shop too long. A friend of mine had an unfortunate lane-changer smack their Bronco Sport when there were still few on the road. We were worried about it being an all new model, but got lucky and beat the estimated timeframe by a lot.

I think most body shops are wise to over estimate delays, and then come out sooner these days

I was on the expressway during evening rush hour. The cars in front of me starting braking hard. I stopped but the Chevy pickup behind me did not.
Ugh. So sorry this happened. That sucks but at least everyone is okay, I'm guessing?

Dealership says they're not able to hang even a temporary taillight without replacing underlying components.

Off-topic, is that a 69 Vette in your avatar?
It's a '69 350 Turbo-Hydramatic with factory hard top. It left St. Louis in Daytona Yellow. The previous owner painted it red. I fixed that.

****** Update ******

I just talked to the insurance adjuster about the damage to my baby. He explained to me that the Bronco was designed with "crumple zones" and they functioned properly in this event. It was a very hard hit but he assured me the hit would have been even harder were it not for these crumply areas. He said the frame was not affected. When the new sections are in place my Race Red baby will be as good as new. The problem is some of the replacement parts are backordered.

So what? it's not like the working taillight did a damn thing for getting the other guy to stop. I know the local constabulatory prefers a full set, but still . . .
