Anyone powdercoated the bead lock rings on their SAS wheels?

I'm planing on getting the functional Ford Performance Bead Lock Kit M-1021K-BL5 and having them painted to Race Red. Anyone paint the functional ones as opposed to the "Bead Lock Lite" version that comes with SAS?

Don’t bother if you’re going to take it off-road. They’ll get scratched to hell. I was sick of the scratches and gouges out of mine, so I sprayed black bed liner spray on them. They look awesome and can now take the abuse.

Absolutely. It’ll be a few hours until I get home though. (I’m at work) Our Bronco is our 3rd vehicle and doesn’t get driven daily. So she’s parked at home. I’ll get a close up of what it looks like when they’re scratched after spraying them.

Maybe @Theherofails can get you a couple pics of his as well. We sprayed his with bed liner spray after I did mine. His rings are a lot more abused then mine are—before & after—and they still look great.

If you plan to off road at all, don’t bother. My silver ones have rock live marks all over them. My friend got his powder coated black - and his silver shoes through all his scratches. If you must- spray paint them do you can easily touch them up when needed.

This is the way, however I have given up touching them up even, just live with the scratches from the rocks.

$100 for all 5 at a local shop. Called a few places. Went with Kingsport Grey, they had it in stock and matches really well with the Badlands grille.

Any chance I can see a picture? I was considering going a grey to also match the badlands grill

Mine were $185 for all five but I didn’t shop around - I just went with a buddies recommended shop that could get it done right away for me as I already had a buyer for my factory OBX wheels/tires.

I paid $75.00 total out the door for all 5 done in mirror black like the Wildtrak. It was a motorcycle/classic car restoration shop.

I got my bead lock beauty rings, D rings (Rough Country Shackle kit for stock bumper) and rear recovery loops (bought a second one for $50) powder coated with "Illusion Wild Copper," which is VERY close to my factory Hot Pepper Red Metallic. Cost for powder coating at Bricco Metal Working in Cypress (just outside Houston, TX) is $45/ring for a mat color to $55/ring for a high metallic content custom color like this one.

Did you remove the beauty rings yourself? Or did they powder coating company do it? Or, did a mechanic or dealer do it? I’ve heard they can be tricky to put back on

Myself. Easy peazy. Just need the correct torx bit. It's a T45. I used an electric drill on the slow setting and if you don't hold it very tight, it can tweak your wrists as you break the loctite they put on the screws. If you are worried about that, you could either use an impact driver or a socket wrrench to break them and then switch to a drill for faster removal. I am not sure it was necessary, but I reapplied loctite when I put them back in.

Just remember to line up the cut out for the valve stem

Bricco Metalworking on Telge. $45-55 per wheel depending on color. Owner is my friend. Tell manager Ricky Steve referred you.

I found a local place to do them for $25 a ring, just didn't get 100% color match. But looks good
