Didn't actually see that this had been run into by anyone yet, but I recently had to replace my armrest window switches. Mostly just putting this here in case anyone else has to deal with it.

A few weeks ago, the rubber coating on my window switches started to come off (switches still worked perfectly fine, mind you), and given that it was under warranty, I figured I'd just wander over to the local stealership and make them do it.

Only to find that they were booking a month out, and anticipated it would take "a couple of days" to replace it once they got ahold of the truck.

After checking with the parts dept, since I figured it wasn't something they'd readily have in stock, I just ordered it, because get this, it's $31. Finally something that doesn't have bronco tax!

So here's the switch assembly, and of note, is that it's got an updated part number and doesn't seem to have the same style of coating on it (maybe just a '21 thing?)

Anyways, here's the goodies:

Pry up on the side of the housing to release the clips (they're in line with the switches themselves vs on all four sides):

Pull the harness off the back of the assembly, and then pry up on these four clips on each side of the housing, gently. handy dandy pocket knife was perfect for this:

Then just snap the new one back in place, plug the harness back in and press it back into the armrest and off you go.

For those curious, here's the part numbers for each to be able to order from your local parts counter if need be:

Thanks for sharing! Rubber on mine are also starting to peel, so will be doing this as well. Can I confirm the part number is M2DT-14540-ADW?

Thanks for posting. The rubber coating just peeled off of my passenger switch today.

Had the rubber peel off mine recently and was contemplating this exact move.

Thanks for sharing!

That’s an engineering number.

The service part number for a 4 door switch is M2DZ-14529-AB and 2 door is M2DZ-14529-BB

Mine is a ‘22 with a July 2022 delivery date. So not limited to ‘21’s it seems.

Ah, I was more thinking about it from the angle of all the rubber on those switches being the same age

Same just happened to mine! Ordered the replacement from Tasca. Going to replace then repair my original with some silicone glue for potential future use

The rubber just peeled off mine today. I thought I recalled seeing a thread about it. Google led me here.

Some might think its a waste of time, but if the buttons are already pealing, is there a good paint that could be used on them that will stay if I sand off all of the rubber on the four buttons? Was thinking it might be fun to paint the buttons red to match the grab handle and give a bit of an emergency toggle button look.

I mean, if you took the thing out and were comfortable with it, you could just take the whole thing apart and paint the switches directly. I will say that the switches without the rubber have any annoying edge along the front of them that annoyed my fingers
