The Jeeps have invaded my town of Butler Pa. It's Jeep week here and thousands of Jeeps from all over the country converge here for our annual festival. In 1940 the government was looking for a vehicle to replace the motorcycle and gave their specs to various tractor and auto companies. The Bantam Car Company won the competition and passed the government's trials. However, the contracts were given to Willys and Ford along with Bantam's Plans. Bantam was just too small to produce the quantity of jeeps needed. I've attached a picture of the original BRC 40, the first Jeep and the father of 4x4 vehicles.
