I've listed an old 1985 CJ7 on Craigslist and Ebay and haven't had very much interest. I get people texting me offers of $500-$1000 but no one serious. Does anyone know of a good Jeep site for selling these things? I'm not really a Jeep guy. We got it from a family member because my wife really wanted it for our 16yr old who turned out to not be interested in it at all. He prefers a car with doors and digital screens in it.

I have had good luck with OfferUp app. You can see if the person buying it has any feedback or not and helps to weed out some of the scams. Itā€™s like FB marketplace (I think). Just make sure to post a lot of photos of it and be clear with the description and what is good/bad with the car.

Iā€™m trading mine in. It reduces my sales tax. Ok so I wonā€™t get top $$. But the $$ I lose on the trade in I save on the sales tax. Itā€™s a wash. And it removes the Lemon Law risk...I mean itā€™s a Jeep so the chance of something sh***ting the bed as soon as it sells is highly likely

See this all depends on what the state laws are. In IL and Iā€™m sure CA there now is not many benefits tax wise to trade in like there are in many states. Some states donā€™t let you use that trade in to lower your sale price like many states do. But I agree... if your state allows that then definitely do it as thatā€™s what I used to do if trade in wasnā€™t much less than selling private.
And this is an old Jeep so lemon laws will not apply to a used car like that. At least not in CA I think.

Surprisingly I sell more on Face Book Marketplace, and I don't get all of that "what's your lowest price" crap as much.

The lemon law in Taxachusetts is MY 2015-2021. The a**hole buyer law is forever. Trade in for me baby.

Join a Jeep forum. Most, if not all have a for sale section.

Maybe bring a trailer. No real experience but it is another outlet.

It is hard to find the right buyer who knows what they are looking at mod wise, versus my son or daughter wants a jeep, what is your lowest price and why are you below bluebook.

Still not understanding this. If they sell a 1985 CJ ā€œas-isā€ used for cash how does the seller become responsible at all after the sale is completed and cash is in the hand of the seller?

In MA, if you sell a 2015-2021 vehicle, the Lemon Law covers buyers whose purchased vehicle (s) suffer a defect within the first 12 months or 15,000 miles (whichever comes first) that can't be repaired after repeated attempts (normally three) by the manufacturers authorized dealership. The 1985 CJ falls outside the law.

Thanks, I never heard of OfferUp. I will look into it.
