My rig is a’24 badlands 2.7L with Sasquatch package. Added a rough country 2 1/2” lift and RSE retractable steps running stock wheels and tires 315/12.5r17. I want to switch to 37’s on stock wheels. I want to know what y’all think of the BFG Baja KO2 37x12.5x17s from a raptor vs Cooper SST PRO 37s. For the same price. Thoughts? I down some 1-5 off-roading but plan on doing some overlanding. This is also my daily.

I know they are not everyone’s cup of tea, but as an all around tire the KO2’s can’t be beat. They are not super heavy (which is important for the added stress to the suspension and drivetrain), not super loud, they do well off road (except thick mud), they last and wear evenly (if rotated correctly and timely), and they are three peak rated. The only downside I have had with them (on multiple Jeeps and now the Bronco) is they do throw small gravel, so if you have tire poke be prepared for that to ding up the sides. But I had that problem with every MT and AT tire I have ever used. I am interested in trying out the new KO3’s when they are available in 37’s and I am due for tires.

You either love or hate KO2s. In LR C they are one of the lightest 37" you will find, and do tend to run a bit small.

The STTs, I've not heard anyone complain except for people who don't realize it's really a MT tire even though Cooper tries to call them an AT, so just know that whereas the KO2 is an AT and that entails a lot of key differences. The folks I know that have them (and understand that it isn't an AT) love them and they are a capable tire.

The STTs were on my short list when I was tire shopping earlier this spring, but ultimately I decided against an MT because I do too much daily driving. For the types of riding you mention either would likely do very well, depending on terrain. I know some 1-5 trails in the Southwest that still will chew up tires because of all the sharp obsidian and old volcanic crap around and a Load Range C may have some reliability issues with that.

Out of the two you mentioned, KO2’s seem best. Lightweight, tough as nails and a respectable daily driver.

I had both the STT Pros and MTT Evos on another vehicle, they are both mud terrain tires. If you primarily daily drive and do non-mud related things I would stick with an All-Terrain. If you drive in the wet often, then you'll definitely want to have an All-Terrain vs mud terrain, and probably the KO3 instead of KO2.

I’ll just say the lightweight stock Sasquatch and raptor tires have thin sidewalls that are known to get destroyed easily…goodluck!

A couple of things to consider since those tires are quite different. I would guess the SST Pro's are D or E rated which makes them heavier and ride stiffer, but the extra sidewall ply's will provide more protection in sharp/rocky conditions. They will be quite a bit noisier on the road (I ran 35" KM3's for over a year and it didn't bother me but I could see people turning their heads when I went by so I know the noise was louder than I thought) but should work better in sloppy conditions. They could wear faster and not give you as many miles as well. The KO2's being C rated are lighter and will rider smoother but you would run the risk of sidewall damage in rough offroad conditions. The KO2's run a little small (closer to a 36") and will fit on the Sas spare tire carrier without the 3rd brake light extension (the SST Pro might be too tall and require the extension bracket). If your wife is going to be in the truck with you often, you might want to lean to the KO2's for less noise.

I ran 37s SST Pros on my Badlands. They are a really good tire, and have great manners on the road, and are very good off-road. They are not as noisy as you would think an MT would be, but as they wear, the noise volumes do tick up. I had no issues with them in wet conditions as well.

On my BRaptor, I will run the KO2's until its time to swap out, then I may just run another set of SST Pro's. So far, though, I have no complaints about the KO2's and I am surprised by their road manners. Later this month, I'll see how they do off-road.

I can't compare since I have always used BFG on off road rigs. But the KO series (I also had the original KO on my Hummer) wears well, handles rock climbing, and the C range stays on the wheel even at 12 psi and flexes really well. I will put the KO3s on when I need new tires, but that won't be for a while.

Depending on where you buy the KO2’s are nearly $100 less a tire than the KO3’s. Are they really worth a $400 difference? I’m supposed to get the KO’s on as I got Ford to match the $278 per tire price I found. I didn’t go with KO3 initially since I do not like the raised white lettering. I could just put that inside so now I’m trying to figure out if I should pay $400 more for them.
