This is what worked for me. I broke two OEM Ford parts and then I went cheap Amazon and I was able to remove this one without breaking it.

IIRC it’s a wiggle with long needle nose pliers that gets that center spring-loaded part out.

I didn’t notice anything spring loaded. It was just four tabs that locked it into the bottom of the cover. When I “wiggled” it side to side, I broke two of the tabs. I’ll be more careful with the 2 arriving from Amazon today.

Just save the old one and pop it back on if you go to the dealership....

Careful with the dealer denying you any engine warranty work because of this, they will see it as a modification of the lubrication system. I know about the Magnuson Moss act, the dealer can deny the warranty and it will be up to you to defend your point.

Anyone know the torque spec of this housing?

I usually tighten down until snug and then 1/4 turn. Check for leaks and call it a day. I usually check again during my next tank refill but never have had a leak.
