no way unless you wired them incorrectly and shorted something.

The b&o amp only supplies like 50w rms to the corner dash and kick panel speakers. the center channel and rears are powered by the APM itself.

I thought i screwed my amplifier up.. we have had like 3 solid weeks of rain, and the connector to the amp was drenched. put a fuse in, and instantly pop. i pulled the rear apart, disconnect the amp. blasted it all with air to push the water out, gave it all a good dose of dielectric grease to seal it up, reassembled, installed new fuse, and was good to go.

Check fuse #146 under the hood.

Thank you yes I checked the fuse right when my speakers stopped working. Actually brought my car to the dealership about a month ago because the only speakers that worked was the front center and the two rears. They said it was my acm. So i brought my car back in today to have the acm replaced and when they went to power it all up they said the amp was blown.

Have them explain how a speaker of same or similar impedance blows up an amp. Record it. We would love to hear the response. A shorted speaker wire or speaker voice coil yes. But not just because you swap like for like with similar electrical properties. It’s a speaker t. The impedance is dynamic as it varies with frequency anyways.

I think they may have mis-diagnosed the original issue honestly.

The ACM powers the center speaker and the rear pod speakers. The B&O amp powers every other speaker in the Bronco. So... it's a bit strange they decided to replace the piece of equipment that is powering the working speakers, rather than the piece of equipment that is (was, I guess) powering the non-working speakers.

I obviously cannot say for certain, as I haven't seen the vehicle personally. But may be worth bringing it up to them. Although at this point, I guess it doesn't really matter either way.

Either way, you (or the dealer) will need to check for shorts on the speakers. Unlikely that those speakers would cause the B&O amp to blow unless there was a short.

I have had these speakers installed in my bronco for the past 18 months. (I have the stock B&O system and put them in the front two corners and rears.) Suddenly my amp went and the dealership is saying it's because of these speakers. Is the wattage ok or did I mess up and buy the wrong speakers?

This is pretty outrageous from the dealer... The factory amplifiers have built in over current/short circuit protection. You shouldnt be able to kill it even if you tried. I would say faulty amp.

Our amps use similar chips to the factory except more expensive. You can short speaker wires together, short speakers to ground, 12v and nothing will kill our amp. Factory will be the same

Id say its a solid 0.1% chance that swapping to those speakers has killed your amp. Put the factory speakers back in and take it to a different dealer!

My in depth research on google led me to this thread. Posting to see if anyone figured out a permanent solution, I have an issue with speakers cutting out randomly. Random outages includes all audio via carplay, radio and even parking sensor alerts/warnings. Only sound that will come through is turn signal. Issues started recently, sometime in November. No rhyme or reason as to why or when, but seems to occur at engine start or when auto start/stop engages. I read somewhere that Bronco system may shut off "non vital" functions if battery voltage too low, but my battery appears to be healthy. As I mentioned, I pulled (and replaced) three fuses to audio control module, sync module and amplifier. Seems to help for a period of time then back to square one. Turning off ignition also helps, but it is also a short-term solution. Audio issues getting worse as I have now had audio cut off multiple times while chauffeuring kids or running errands.

I will caveat that I installed a higher end after market system, but my audio guy said Ford wont touch system under warranty unless audio guy can pinpoint issue. Frustrating that now I am have to sit in silence while I listen to the road noise and wind whistle through my hardtop. Joking aside, love my Bronco but this is beyond frustrating.
