My daily commute involves a river crossing... so this is fairly important to me. I got the Braptor thinking it would be a snap somehow to get a snorkel installed aftermarket and unfortunately I have not seen one for sale/ any garages that offer an installation. Anyone know why this might be the case? Is there some issue with the intake setup/ factory hood that might make a snorkel prohibitive?

The low hanging alternator should be a much bigger concern for you

Fording depth is 37" but the stupid alternator is below that line soo theres that, not sure I even trust the "mud" cover to protect it in a muddy river crossing.

Just the other day IAG released an add-on snorkel (not for Raptor). But: it's purely jewelry. If you want a snorkel, you want an Everglades. It's about more than just the snorkel. As mentioned, in V6 models the alternator hangs too low. Note that the Everglades is the 2.3.

But mainly, as pointed out here and specifically by Car and Driver:

To make the Everglades the most seaworthy Bronco, Ford raised the vent tubes for both axles, the transmission, and the transfer case. Combined with the custom-designed snorkel, this allows the vehicle to drive through up to 36.4 inches of water. That's 2.9 inches more than the Bronco Sasquatch (0.6-inch less than the towering Bronco Raptor)...
So IAG's non-Raptor snorkel is kinda silly, even in the 2.3 models. But I digress.

Anway: I don't have the Raptor specs in front of me; is C&D saying that the 36.4 inches for the Everglades is still 0.6 inches lower than what the stock Raptor can handle? In which case, does the stock Raptor really need a snorkel?

Somewhere in the forum is someone who added the snorkel if you want Ford parts but here's Mishimoto, don't know if it's compatible with the Raptor or not:

It's pretty clear water actually most of the time. Not so worried about mud from the river crossing... but during the wet season, the roads themselves are basically only mud.

oof. TIL.

Starting to think it might not be the dream car I thought it would be for the muddy roads of Nosara.

Muddy roads wont be an issue since they put the "splash" cover on it, but if mud gets into the alternator its not going to be happy. I think Fords idea is clear water, but we always have these things in muddy conditions plus something about water and electronics don't mix well, it should of been high mounted like the ordinal plan was but Ford ran out of time or whatever on the design.

The Raptor is “supposed” to have the splash cover on the alternator, my 2022 did not. The alternator died in Moab, but in dry conditions at the time. Dealer cited no splash guard as the issue. You’re probably fine, but you might want to confirm if you’re a 2022.
