Well during the storms over the last few days I had a few trees fall or brake in the middle. The one I worked on this morning was a swamp maple about 10 inches around. I have a JCR winch plate a RC 9.5k winch installed on the Bronco. I decided to try and just winch the broken piece off the top an leave the busted stump where it was. I was surprised to see the stump and all pop out of the ground while I was winching it.
I had a 100 foot rope tied to the broken part near the brake. I ran it to a soft shackle to the winch. It pulled it no problem.
All cleaned up now and waiting to hit the burn pile after a few more are cleaned up.
