To be clear, +- 1” diameter increase over OEM tire, but only increases height +-1/2” of vehicle.
Correct. For those still comparing, The OBX 18" wheels have a shorter section height than comparable 17" wheels on other Broncos for a given tire size, which off-roaders do not like because there's less tire to absorb rock inpact or to spread out when airing down. To compensate, the additional 275/18's height helps, e.g. a 275/70R18 is 33.2" high, while a 285/70R17 tire is typically 32.7" high. They're both called 33's. The 285/70R17 tire is the stock Badlands tire, a half inch shorter and .4in wider than the 275/18.

The 285/70R17 tire is 11.2 in wide vs 10.8 for the 275/70R18. In practice, brands and types differ, but the TREAD widths tend to measure 7.5 wide for our stock OBX 255/70R18, 8.5 for some 275/70R18 tires, and +/-9" wide for the 285/70R17 stock Badlands tires. But brands vary wildly. Micky Thompson's E rated LT275/70R18, is huge with a 9.6 tread width on a 10.8 section width and a 33.4" height, its the one I want but I'm leary of the 66# weight. Also, while spec sheet says permissible 7-9" rims allow our 7.5 OBX, OEM rim, I'm more comfortable with the Ford Performance 18x8 wheels. I'd love to try it, to see if it fits, but the Goodyear Territory seems the safer bet for a mostly daily driver.

295/70/18 Nitto Recon Grapplers (same 34.3” diameter of SAS tires but 1 inch narrower)
18” bronze Vision Manx II rims — +12 offset
2” lift

they took my crash bars off but I don’t think that was necessary

You could find some 1” forged spacers if you want some poke on the OEM wheel.

Thanks - I've been searching for days trying to figure out what I'm going to do. I'd love to do lift and 35's but I don't think that's in the budget this go around. I'm content with the factory 18's so at this point I'm just trying to figuring out what the biggest tire is that I can put on it is then go from there. I'd like a little poke but with the +55 offset on the stocks I don't think I'll be able to accomplish much of that.

Can you take a picture showing how much poke and possibly measure it. I'm looking at going with Black Rhino Rapid's that are 17x9 with a offset of +12offset

there’s 2” of poke, but most of it is sidewall.

I was back and forth a lot — considered everting from -12 to +30 — and I wasn’t sure if I would like this setup (thought it may be too much), but I’ve ended up deciding it’s perfect for me. I really like the look of a bit of poke.

keep in mind that my tires are 11.5” wide, so a wider tire would also poke more.

I’m going with Nitto Ridge Grappler LT305/70R17

Unpopular opinion but I like the stock OBX wheels. Hate the tires so swapped them (same day I picked her up)

for KO2’s.
Agree 100%

The wheels are completely fine IMO. The OEM Bridgestones are very sad looking. I swapped tires on day 1 and haven’t looked back.

New shoes this morning! Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus, 275/65 R18. Still 32” diameter, but almost +1” width. What a difference in look. Really didn’t think 33” would be much of an improvement.

Looks great! I went with the same size on my tire swap. Another benefit is your speedometer doesn’t need recal.

Yep, I think we’re one of the few. After reading your earlier post on the size I decided to go for. So, thanks! Agreement also the wheels; not as flat looking as with the Bridgestones.
