Thanks let us know your progress. Also how did you remove the plastic? Just pops right off?
Do you know what paint would be best for that application?
The plastic is just held with clips. It pops off pretty easy. But I do not have parking sensors in the front. I think people with sensors will have an additional harness connected to that plastic trim.

I have a 2022 Badlands Sasquatch that came with the capable bumper. I have messed a bit with the shackles and I think the main support is welded to the bumper rear reinforcement. I took the screws out but the mounting bracket did not budge even a bit. But the shackle itself seems removable. Just pop out that plastic cover and it looks like the pin holding it is just pressed in there. I am going to try to take out mine later in the week and repaint them.
If you want to paint the mount too, should be easy as well. Just take out the bolts and shackle and mask around it.

Nice! Does it looks like they could be replaced with like the gear America aftermarket shackles?

You'd need new shackle mounts like the ones on the modular bumper. I'm not sure if those would fit or a new one needs to be designed

Interesting. Just got my 22 Badlands delivered a few days ago and it came with the modular bumper. I thought that was standard on the Badlands?

I did not but now I remember I had it in my original 2021 build that they automatically changed to a 22 build. Just double checked, I didn't get charged for it.

Yeah, it's a free upgrade if you had a '21 order

The modular bumper is part of the price protection deal

Took off the bumper yesterday and I confirm the whole shackle mount was held with a 8 mm socket bolt from the back. After that it came right off. The capable bumper mounts essentially the same as the modular bumper, but it does not have the "modularity" part. However it is compatible with the same skid plates as the modular bumper. The bumper is super easy to take off. 6 screws and one harness connection total.

However, I could not take apart the shackles. Looks like the pins holding them are press fit. So you might need a press to take them off.

But honestly, if you just want to paint them, I would recommend just taking off the plastic trim and masking around it. If you have any imperfections on the edges, they will be covered by the trim anyway.
I am going to paint mine, but I unsure if I want to do some kind of silver or red or orange to match the body color. Too many choices!!!

I've been searching for capable bumper love myself. Want to do the shackles in BL orange.

Also want to figure out if the RC hidden winch for the standard bumper works with the capable. They look pretty identical in shape to me. Just steel vs plastic.

Very nice. Does anyone know if the modular bumper shackle mounts are the same bolt ons? Could they be swapped? Paint would work but ultimately would like to use my GearAmerica shackles.

Hoping aftermarket comes up with a complete bolt-on replacement.

awesome so does it look like you could paint them without even taking anything off? Just mask around the whole thing?

The capable bumper and the modular bumper share the same skid plates. So based on what this guy did, I do not think it will be an easy bolt-on. The guy had to cut some brackets from the frame (n)

One of my projects in the next few weeks will be to design a custom bracket for a Warn winch that can be mounted hopefully without removing brackets. It will also need a custom skid plate. But it will be huge if I can avoid having to cut parts from the frame.
