Curious, why do you want to do the expensive ceramic coatings instead of just spraying a ceramic wax on yourself in 10 min?

There are so many different options as far as products go but I would say plan on spending in the area of $800-1200 for a quality ceramic coating installed. Its a time consuming process that requires significant paint prep and curing to achieve the maximum performance.

I think mine needs to be Clay Barred and Polished before I do this

I have had paint correction and ceramic coating done on 3 different vehicles at 3 different shops in the appleton area in the last 3 years. None did a very good job when it comes to the paint correction. I paid around 1500 each time. Probably the best of the 3 was "clean inside and out detailing". But he did end up coating over cutting compound drops and swirled the hell out of the paint on my mirrors. If I had to do it over I would just clay bar and wax the vehicles myself which is what I did with my bronco.

It's disappointing the newer Griot's 3-in-1 isn't in this video. I'd rank that above the Turtle Wax Hybrid, but I consider the Turtle Wax Hybrid a bit easier to apply.

No car is perfect from the factory but I didn't claybar or polish my new Elantra N before applying a wax. It was almost perfect, though. If you really want to be nit picky then yeah you should be prepping the paint but honestly it's not a requirement if the paint is in good condition.

As long as you see water beading and rolling off your car after applying a wax then you're golden. That's the only point of paint protection....to make your paint hydrophobic so stuff doesn't stick to it as easily.

When you touch your clean paint does it feel pretty smooth? If it does I think you can just put some wax on and maybe in a couple years look into doing a whole paint correction if you think you need it.

Sadly, the paint on the Bronco is pretty thin so the less you polish the clearcoat the better since there's not much on it. Below is a video showing a reading of the paint

Clay barring will need to be done beforehand to get rid of any contaminants, but you're probably fine to skip polishing especially because your car is silver and won't show swirl marks and stuff anyway, which is what the polishing is mostly for.

However, I will say you probably want to make sure the car hasn't been waxed for a while before you ceramic coat it or else it won't stick as well.

The hybrid ceramic waxes like Turtle Wax or Meguiars are also incredibly user friendly and provide great coverage/protection as well, especially for the low amount of effort/cost needed for them.

I’ve been using Hybrid Solutions (Turtle Wax) for years and recently started using the ceramic product. It is very good. Surprised given how inexpensive it is.

Just had mine done in FL. Paid 1100 including all 5 wheels. I researched the process and decided it was best to let the pros handle it. They clay bar and polish first, locking in a perfect finish. They used the best quality ceramic (no turtle wax bs) then cure it under infrared for 12 hours. So far, I’m very impressed and feel it was worth it.
