This evening, and on the eve of my trip to Moab (tomorrow) from the Bay Area, CA, my Bronco threw a "Check 4x4" warning on the dash - all 4x4 modes have been disabled, and the G.O.A.T. knob flashes all four yellow indicator lights. I called the local dealer, and the manager suggested disconnecting the battery for a bit, which I did, to no effect. Has anyone encountered this issue, and how did you/your dealer resolve it?

The truck drove fine for about a 1/4-mile in 2WD.

Current plan is hoping that Ford in Bakersfield, CA (on the way to Vegas/Moab) can squeeze me in for a quick scan tomorrow, though I'm really hoping that it's an issue that I can resolve myself, with perhaps some of your help.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts/ideas/suggestions!

Rig pic to garner additional sympathy.

Thank you!

A friend suggested a bad wheel speed sensor, and scanning for codes at auto parts store - I'll be doing that in the morning.

Also checking fuses - those related to Terrain Mgmt (there seems to be one under the glove box), and whatever else.

I had it happen. Washed the inside of the wheel hub area, as I heard it could be an ABS sensor issue. Left the vehicle off for the night and it was just fine the ext day. Good luck.

Interesting! I drove it through some thick, sticky mud last weekend, and doubt that I got all of it off at the car wash, especially in the hub area. I'll give it a good spray tomorrow and hope that the warning goes away. Thank you for the tip!

BTW, can you point me to the exact location of those ABS sensors? I've never looked at the hubs closely... all 4 wheels, I suppose? Thanks.

clean exterior, remove single bolt, and pry sensor out very carefully. clean the cavity, then reinstall.

I have the same message with the wrench light but I can still use my goat modes. Mine threw the code when I put it in sport mode a few months back. I refuse to take it to the dealership until my next oil change.

I also just got the wrench symbol, and have no goat modes, hopefully nothing else goes wrong until I take it in for its first service, I have less than 900 miles though.
