It gets the job done. I did the MARS mod by myself. Having GMRS and HAM available in one radio is clutch. The FTM400 programmer will even preload all the GMRS frequencies with the proper transmit power for each.
SSSSSSHHHHHHHH!!!!
Don't even mention Amateur and GMRS on here!!!
I did, and Nannies came out of the woodwork telling me how Ham radios are not type accepted by the FCC, blah, yada, etc and half of them are probably running BowWoWFangs/TYT/AnyTurd radios.
The neuterfication of America continues to amaze me!!!
Oh! My particular depravity has recently doubled...

Nice setup! My reasoning is that as long as you’re sticking within the band plans and harassing people you’re in the clear. I have a tech license and a GMRS license.

Ya, I've been licensed since about 1991, ran hi-powered (500w) HF mobile out of my 1985 F-250 for about 18 years; what a H-O-O-T!!!
Not ABOUT to try that with The Low-Q Bronco...I ordered a nice simple truck...this thang has about 40 computers in it.
So far, with 50w VHF/UHF and 100w HF (but not at the same time), the truck doesn't even know those radios exist!!!
73s de W5DGV!!!
