I bought a 2026 Bronco Big Bend Sasquatch a couple of weeks ago, and last weekend I took it apart and began wrapping it in my garage. I took off the roof, doors, mirrors, taillights, spare tire holder, and front grill to make wrapping easier.

I wrapped the doors off the car, and every time I finished one door I would reinstall it onto the vehicle, plug it in, and check to make sure the electronics worked properly. Obviously, this involves turning the car on, and the first time I did so, I was greeted with a plethora of warnings. They mostly had to do with Blind Spot/Cross Traffic Detection being disabled, but there was also a Check Engine Light on. I attributed it to the mirrors being off at the time (the taillights had already been reinstalled) and moved on.

Yesterday morning, I had the car mostly put back together, aside from mirrors and one of the doors, and had to move the car before finishing. I did so and got all the same warning lights I always did, but I also got a message on the dash saying “Transmission Not in Park” whenever I shifted out of Park, and a message in the Ford app saying there was a Blind Spot Detection issue. I again attributed it to the mirrors and finished up the wrap.

By yesterday afternoon, the car was all put back together, mirrors included, and when I turned the car back on the Blind Spot Detection Disabled warnings all went away, but the Check Engine Light was still on. I drove it around the block to see if the computer would recalibrate and the light would turn off, but it didn’t. Instead, I got a message from the Ford app reading the following:
“Service Engine Soon Warning
What Is Happening?
Your service engine soon alert is on because an electrical issue has been detected with your vehicle. This may cause the engine start/stop feature (if equipped) to not work.
What Should I Do?
Contact your dealership as soon as possible for service.”

I drove the car again this morning and the light is still on but the car is running perfectly. My assumption is that a fault code came up because the car was turned on without the mirrors plugged in, and the code now needs to be reset, but I figured I’d ask for opinions here. I don’t have an OBD II scanner, but I may try to pick one up to see if I can get some more info/clear the code. That said, I don’t want to do too much because the car is obviously under warranty.

Appreciate the help!

Some people would pay good money for their auto start/stop system to not work...
I think the obvious first step is to recheck your door harnesses, since that'd be the source of some of your earlier warnings.

Now that you have everything reconnected and fault icon still there, I would try to disconnect negative battery terminal for 1/2 hour or so and reconnect to see if it might clear.

You sound like somebody who is in to DIY, so it would be worth investing in a FORScan adapter so that you can read codes in more detail and reset them, plus a lot of other helpful things.

If they attribute the problem to the disassembly/reassembly process, don't be surprised when the warranty does not cover you. I like the computer reset recommendation and also getting the OBD II scanner. Computer might fix itself for free and if it doesn't you'll be armed with more information with codes read.

If I disconnect the battery, will that reset my settings in the infotainment system?

It’s possible maybe, but I’ve disconnected my battery more than a couple of times and it never affected my infotainment settings. I have had to do window reset procedure after reconnecting battery though

I've done the battery reset at least a half dozen times for various things and even replaced my battery, but like @Dan-O said, I don't recall settings being lost in the process.
