I want to install my ham radio above the windshield on the passenger side. My concern is routing the coaxial cable through the A pillar. Can this be done without interfering with the air bag stashed in there? I don't know if I can remove the plastic covering there. I certainly don't want to accidentally activate the air bag.

Shouldn’t be a big deal. There’s already a wiring harness that runs through there also. Just zip tie it tight to the harness and keep it out of the way of the airbag.

You won’t set off the airbag by removing the pillar trim, but if it makes you feel safer, just disconnect the battery and wait a few minutes.

100% possible and I’ve done it. Make sure you’re behind the airbag. No wires crossing in front and you’re good.

Whenever I’m close to an airbag I disconnect the battery. Removes any risk.

There are several YouTube video's that will show you what to do. I believe if you look for installation of upfitter switches you will find what you need.

Thanks all, for that information. I feel more comfortable now in getting into that area.

About disconnecting the battery. For some reason, I thought the air bags operated independent of the the battery. Apparently that is not true. I have never seen any fuses for the air bag system. Do they exist?

I ran a CB coax up the passenger side A pillar not a ton of space but should be able to get it routed behind the airbag no problem.
