If it's any consolation, I just turned 72 and on June 2 bought a Bronco Raptor! I had to practice a bit to find the best way to jump in and out, but have that down to a science now. I love the way it rides and handles. Every where I go I get comments and questions. This is "Blue", not because of the color but because it's the "lead Raptor" from Jurassic World!

LOL, 69 here and the wife is 5 foot. Put on running boards and I am still trying to figure out the best way into it! We like it.

Hey Y'all... my first post here, and hopefully I'm in the right place asking in the right way.

Looking at a new 2024 Badlands with Sas and Lux sitting at a dealer. $2k under MSRP.

Good price? Bad price? Just okay?
I don't think its terrible. Badlands let alone SAS Badlands are pretty tuff finds on dealer lots around me. $2k off is ballpark to Invoice pricing.

....I'm in my 60's and internalizing just how short life can be and that I'm gonna be dead for a very long time.

Reality is that I'm not sure how many new cars I'm gonna have. I can afford it, so thinking of indulging myself with exactly the spec I want and not sweat the price too much.

I had time to waste today and went on Cars.com to check new bronco prices in my area. Now seeing $5k+ off MSRP on 2024's sitting on the lots as advertised, and the MSRP figure isn't being over-inflated like some dealers have done in my area as recently as June to make the perceived "discount" basically a wash to the real MSRP. Looks like a good time to buy a new Bronco!

Bought mine in late May at MSRP (ordered it). Not upset though as I have no intention of getting rid of it anytime soon, if ever. It'll become a weekend toy, then "yard art" before I get rid of it. Love it as much when it's sitting still as I do when it's flying down the road!

You have to keep in mind that they raised MSRP $10k-18K (some by removing trims and options, or increasing option prices), over 2 Model years, so $5K off is peanuts.

Update...

Maybe pulling the trigger on a 2023 Badlands man trans, w/Sas and 334A Lux, about $48k, used but in excellent condition with 19k highway miles and my fave color Cactus Gray. 1 owner, clean Carfax showing service and oil changes. Looks like it never went offroad.

MSRP in 2023 was $58,455. KBB private party value is $55,331.

Comparably spec'd 2024 is about $66k MSRP.

IMO, manual trans with my top choice color, hardtop, factory Sas, and Lux (360 cameras, etc) make this a bit of unicorn and not an easy combo to find. Although not a "steal", I think $48k is a reasonable price.

If I were after an auto trans, I'd keep looking as similar spec and getting more of a "steal" price is so much easier to find with an auto.

Since you're a former FJ-40 owner, I assume you will actually use the functionality you are buying in the Bronco. In that case yes, maybe spend for the extra spec.

My general advice is do things, don't buy things as a proxy for doing things. You still have time to have adventures with a Bronco, do things while you can.
Pulling the trigger on a used 2023 in great shape. Has some interior scuffs, but I am going to use the crap outta this thing with overlanding trips, dogs, etc. Not like a Sunday driver.

Mass market manuals will never be in high demand. It's a niche market. During the peak Bronco prices, I mostly saw manuals on the lot and at discounts whereas everything else was selling $5-10K over.

This is the type of discount you should be seeking. These are pretty loaded Badlands with 2.7L, Lux, and hardtops. Not soft top with mid - that you would expect to be discounted.

"predelivery service fee"? GTFO. No way would I step foot in that place.

Welcome to Florida. I visited a few dealerships last weekend as I was looking for a track car and wow… I forget how much I hate stealerships. $1200 for pre delivery fee, $500 for doc fee, $300 for e-registration filing on top of the government fee. Numerous dealerships had forced $1500 or $2495 packages that were pure trash (nitrogen, fabric protection, etc). Not optional. I computed it would cost me $3K on top of the sales tax and registration fees for every single car I looked at.

The above is the nothing.
