I retract my previous statement. Took a moment to look at the rear- there is a clear vertical orientation when you look at the wiring harness

I just could not tell you which way is up. Closer pods are SS2s, the furthest is an SS3 - both are distinct.

That's our fog kit. Did your Diode Dynamics boxes have a WHITE STICKER on the box that stated the lenses were flipped for you already? My guys usually do that before shipping the lights out when they are part of a Bronco Fog kit, because we KNOW they will be upside down.

Those lights hang upside down so if you hang them upside down in that photo, look at the front. Is the "D" on the lens on the bottom of the lens (so that it reads correctly) or is it upside down, on the top? The "D" on the lens should be on the bottom so you can see it. We USUALLY flip things for you with our fog kits and label the boxes accordingly as well.

You are right - it was your kit.

I don't recall a white sticker, but it's been a few beers ago.

I went out and looked again - there is nothing on the Combo lens that I can see. With a bit of window cleaner, there is an SAE tag on the Driving and the Fog lenses. Of course, on each side, I have one of them upside down and one right side up. I'll fix that when I have the bumper off next I guess.

Combo lenses don't matter as to how they orient. Some folks make them mirrors of each other so on one side the DRIVING pattern is on the left but on the other side it's on the RIGHT. But it doesn't matter as far as how the beam lands since you can aim them.

The DRIVING light doesn't really matter much of it's upside down, my OCD would go nuts so I'd flip them (don't forget the bezel also). You def. wanna make sure the SAE Fog is right side up.

Don't forget when you flip the lenses you have to shave off the little indexing tab on the back of the lens or it won't sit properly.

Diode Dynamics told me the combo lights are oriented as they should be and if you flip the lens and shave off the indexing tab, it voids their warranty.

I've never heard of that, ever. In fact, we work closely with Diode Dynamics and we were told that's what you have to do when you use the fog lights on a Bronco (or Raptor) because they hang upside down.

You can most certainly flip your lenses around and shave that tab off so that everything is oriented properly. The combos don't REQUIRE it of course but you certainly can!

We've also NEVER had a warranty claim EVER in the history of working with Diode Dynamics ever get denied.

Just want to confirm, for the combo lights, I need to shave these small tabs on the inside of the lens (the little piece that sits in the groove of the housing)? Can I use a rounded metal file or some sand paper? Or a Dremel? Want to make sure I do this right.

I ordered SAE lights and don't see that making on them also. Maybe got the wrong set of lights.
The deutch connector should be closer to the bottom of the light on the SAE fogs. Why DD molds it in the body instead of using a pigtail is a question for the ages... and a choice that makes it a total PITA to install these lights in tight spaces.

Most manufacturers actually have the DT connector molded in. The problem with DD's lights is that their mold has almost NO TOLERANCE. I've addressed this with them for years now and hopefully they make a running change and fix their molds. BUT molds cost money. So they have to outweigh the costs.

But yeah their lights can be tricky sometimes. The SS3 are easier then the SSC2 to plug a connector in. Other lights don't have this issue, where it's molded in. Better tolerances.

Yes those little tabs.

So I DID talk to DD and they did confirm that yes, it voids the warranty as it's a cosmetic change. To be honest, there's been a lot of back/forth on this. Years ago when the Bronco kits first started to hit the market they actually told us how to flip the lenses and to shave that tab off. Now the story seems to have changed, so go figure.

Any suggestions on the best way to shave off the tabs? I don’t want to crack the lens…

Just use a razer blade or exacto knife. You're just cutting it like you would widdle wood or peel a carrot
