Hi all, I installed a Diode Dynamics C1R about a year ago, and its always had some quirks.

1. Whenever I shut off the vehicle, the C1R stays on after the other lights have shut off. After an additional minute or so, it shuts off too, but tends to come back on around the 10min mark when I assume the accessory power clicks off, and seemingly just at random at other times. It also turns on if I walk near the vehicle, even without my key on me, but seems to only do this for the first hour or so after getting out of the Bronco.

2. When I stop at red lights, I can hear an annoying click coming from the rear every 5 seconds or so. I assume it's the relay for the light and only does it when the brakes are pressed, but it may be quiet enough that I just don't notice during movement. I've unplugged the C1R and the clicking stops, so it's definitely related to the light.

Has anyone else had similar issues? Is it possibly something wrong w/ my factory tow harness?

I sent an email to Diode Dynamics about the clicking right after I installed the light , but I never got a response. Figured I'd check with you guys before I bothered with them again. Thanks!

I have the exact same problem, glad I red this. AI says it's the brake controller system doing as is confusing the C1R with a system that has brakes. Mention something about using the red tap wire that was included in the kit. Have done anything yet.

This must be caused by going thru the 7pin plug and brake controller. I used a taillight adapter harness from SVP for running, brake, rev and ground for my 3 C1r. Made a custom harness to feed all three. The upper 2 C1r get running, brake rev and ground. The hitch mounted one gets running, rev and ground but the bright red is triggered by the OEM rear foglight switch

Do you know what color is just the brake light ? The C1R I have has a special red tap line that you can feed the rear brake light wire to the C1R to bypass the brake light wire in the 7 pin connector thus by passing the hitch brake controller wiring.

I ordered my C1r from SPV. They just have a 4 pin Deutsch plug.
